Specifically addressing your flight from Vietnam to Thailand. Air line personnel will ask for your onward ticket out of Thailand. Have it available to show them or you will not be allowed on the flight.

I was asked to show this three weeks ago on flight from Danang to Bangkok.

Thai immigration sometimes asks for onward ticket and sometimes ask to see that you have enough money and a place to stay. This has not happened to me but be prepared.

USA citizens are allowed 30 days visa exempt; soon this will be 45 days.

Getting a bank account is tricky.

You need to look presentable and professional.

It is all up to the agent if you will succeed or not.

The agent wants to know you will be a long term customer and will put money into their bank so they can charge fees …it’s a Business after all.

Best seems to be Bangkok Bank.

I told them I’m a frequent visitor, had $500 to deposit and want to buy a condo soon.

I had to buy an insurance policy for about $100 …..I think it’s a side hustle for them.

What will you do if the Qatar Airways flight arrives late?

Consider taking the latest flight to Chiang Mai and also have a backup plan for staying overnight in Bangkok.
