Update: it took me less than 60 seconds to open an account, set up a transaction between US and Thai accounts, and receive the funds using remitly. The first time used, the transaction fee of $1.99 was waived with an exchange rate that was 0.12 baht per dollar less than what wise showed at the exact same time, which means 120 baht less per $1,000 usd sent. Comes out to be a bit cheaper than wise in fees/conversion, even if you calculated in the 1.99. Thank you everyone who suggested Remitly.
Anyone have a good alternative to Wise for transferring funds between personal accounts in America and Thailand? I used wise for 6 years for the same thing and all of a sudden they are asking for crazy amounts of information, cancelling transactions because after I provide what they ask, they say they need additional information, it’s kinda gotten ridiculous. I’m open to starting a new bank account with a U.S. bank if that can make things more easy. Thanks
