Ok- I have a question for all my Wise Banking American ex-Pats:

When I'm moving money from my Wells Fargo to wise and then Wise to a Thai bank account should I exchange the funds to Baht and then deposit them s Baht to the Thai bank account?

Does that make sense? Or just do a USD dorectly into my Thai bank account?

Which one will give me better rate?

I read somewhere that your 65,000 Baht monthly income has to come from a ‘Govt Pension’ source?…Is it okay if it comes from a SIPP (a private pension pot)?…

Hi guys, I plan on retiring to Thailand next year, I'm married to a Thai and was planning on going down the income route rather than dumping a lump sum in my Thai bank account. The British embassy no longer confirms income so do they accept a statement from a UK bank ?

For digital nomads who are transferring money now into Thai Bank Accounts

Lets say you are transferring 60k on low end and 100k on high end every month

After 1 year in thailand how much tax are you liable to pay from that to thai government (so 360k-720k baht transferred in)?

Non O retirement visa requires 800,000 baht in a Thai bank. How difficult (or not) is it getting your money out and back to their home country if they decide to return home? Is it just a matter of a bank transfer? Any penalties?

Potential problem discovered today. Some immigration offices may ask you for proof your bank deposit came from abroad. Many people use online banks like Wise. But Wise send from their Wise London bank to a partner bank in Thailand, and then on to your bank. So your deposit's code in your Thai bank is not from abroad. Immigration can therefore make this an obstacle - that needs overcoming - to get your visa. Note: not all offices or officers ask for this apparently.

UPDATE: According to others, it seems this problem has been solved by Wise giving an option to send "funds for longstay". If, like me however, you sent the funds before this option was available, the problem remains. You will most likely have to resend the funds from abroad. My local office will not accept the Wise (funds sent) statement as proof.

When transferring money into Thailand, when you go to show the transfers for income verification... So things like WISE register differently than wires?
