It seems like they used to restrict poor foreigners but now they only want rich foreigners.

I never bought land, or house or even car and am ready to leave when the day comes I don't meet visa requirements

Been here 30 years and most of my mates have already left for Vietnam

I used to work in Africa and really like uganda but ugandas probably not to everyone's taste.

New passports and visa transfers are routine in nearly every other country but quite complicated here for some reason.

its stress if you have commitments here but if you are prepared to just leave if it doesn't work out the stress turns into excitement

I wouldn't say a year is classed as living here and it is possible to do it on tourist visas

One of my mates is leaving Thailand next week after 15 months here on TV and visa exempt. A few border bounces a few extensions and maybe a week or 2 in Cambodia and it's possible just be prepared for a few headaches and always have plan b when you approach immigration at arrivals.
