TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, traveling from Croatia to Chiang Mai, inquires about obtaining a one-year or longer e-visa as a tourist, having an invitation letter. Multiple comments clarify that there is no one-year tourist visa available, and suggest that the user should consider other visa types, such as Non-Immigrant or Education Visas, for long stays. It is advised that the user consult the issuer of the invitation letter and local Thai embassy for guidance, as well as consider various methods for extending their stay like border runs.

If its available in your country the METV is the way to go. You can get upto 9 months stay.

It's simple

Just travel out of Thailand every 3 months and go back in a few days later

I am considering to do visa run

Just make sure your visa does NOT expire while you are still in Thailand

They will not let you in again

have you tried it before? Normally the visa permits 0

60 days stay with 30 days extension. Can I extend 30days each time and do the visa runs? Is it a suggested visa runs period 🤔

as many times as you want

You are asking the wrong question. You cannot do anything on a tourist visa except be a tourist. You are needing to get the correct visa for the purpose of your visit. Whoever has given you your letter should be helping, or at least pointing you in the right direction.

Alen, I think you should first ask advice from the person who issued the invitation letter. Ask if they can advise you of the procedure you should follow to accept the invitation. And then also ask the nearest Thai embassy. Good luck

I wouldn't say a year is classed as living here and it is possible to do it on tourist visas

One of my mates is leaving Thailand next week after 15 months here on TV and visa exempt. A few border bounces a few extensions and maybe a week or 2 in Cambodia and it's possible just be prepared for a few headaches and always have plan b when you approach immigration at arrivals.

he will face denials at the border sooner or later, with this travel history on the immigration computer

@Derry ********
yes this is stressful way
Todd *********
@YT *******************
why is that stressful. Just play the game. Or pick an easier country to reduce the stress
Derry *********
@Todd ********
its stress if you have commitments here but if you are prepared to just leave if it doesn't work out the stress turns into excitement

no stress no life

this is not solution go to another country 😜
Todd *********
@YT *******************
of course it is. There are 194 other choices out there. It’s just that some people have difficulty seeing those options.

You mentioned ‘this is the stressful way’… so as you believe ‘no stress, no life’ i assume this is the path you recommend. It’s challenging for tourists under 50 to stay for a year as no such visa exists for tourism. So border bounce and visa run are the way

if someone wants to go to Thailand, don't give him a stupid solution, choose another country, because then you don't sound serious. Of course, it IS possible to stay in Thailand for a year or longer for people under 50 years of age. If you don't know, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

if you read my answer above, clearly I know, as I told you how. Are you drunk or just not very good at reading?

Haiya.. what is your invitation letter? 😂

You will not be staying in thailand for one year with a tourist visa simple and having correct visa for your stay is still not a guarantee of entry but having correct visa for your stay will help Chokh di you are going to need it
Nongnuch ********
an invitations letter isn't changing anything, not when you apply for a 6-month multi entry Tourist Visa nor when you apply for a 60-days single entry Tourist Visa. There is no 1-year tourist visa. You can get two 60-days TR-visa in a row, including the 30 days extensions on each, within one calendar year and will probably be denied a third one, because "living in Thailand for one year" is not what the Thai Immigration expect real tourists to do. You could, however, get a 15-months stay out of a Non-Imm-ED Visa if you start courses in a reputed language school or university inside Thailand. You will but need to attend classes, as online-schooling is not possible under the ED-visa scheme, and Immigration will random check your presence
YT ********************
@Nongnuch *******
of course, in Thailand there is a one-year visa, not only one year, but even longer.

Try not to mislead people. If you are not sure about something, it is worth adding, in my opinion.
Nongnuch ********
@YT *******************
invitation letter? Did his Thai girlfriend invite him? Then YES he might be able to get the 6-months tourist visa (if he can meet the financial requirements) otherwise it is two times a 60+30 Days single entry tourist visa, and that's it in the eyes of most immigration border officers
YT ********************
@Nongnuch *******
no. There is a lot of another options. But not for everyone. Invitation letter is nothing.
Nongnuch ********
@YT *******************
if you mean the ELITE-visa why don't you tell him about it by yourself? And of course I know that there are multiple 1-year visa and extensions of stay available, however NOT for people his age, or NOT married to a Thai citizen. There is the LTR visa, there is the 5-year O/X visa, why don't you tell him? Do you love to sound like the smart A ? He is UNDER 50 of age, doesn't have many options, and MOST OF all - not the "touristy" option he mentioned, as there is no 1-year tourist visa
Vili *********
@Nongnuch *******
not true some school allow online class but for sure she will write every time you attend class or not.
Nongnuch ********
@Vili ********
online classes are subject of scrutinous checks by Immigration. You have been warned! Many of these schools are not legal.

Who is the invitation letter from? Is this to do with a job, or study?

if your intentions are serious, you can actually stay for one year, living in a temple. However if you decide to drop out, you may face problems
YT ********************
@Alen *********
they should male visa for you
Brandon ************
You cannot live in Thailand with tourist visas. There's no such thing as a tourist visa that will let you stay in ChiangMai, or any country in the world, for 1 year.

You will need to get the proper visa for your stay. And "because I want to" is not one of the reasons to qualify for a long term visa.

@Brandon ***********
Georgia and Albania both allow Americans for one year on a tourist visa

I was making a joke, but you need to understand Americans to get it.

my U.S. American friend is living in Albania for three years in a row right now. No problem. Very inexpensive country to stay. He used to live on Penang, Malaysia, but they didn't want him there any more, visa related
Brandon *********
@Jack ***************
damn you got me there fam

@Brandon ********
hahaha I was crossing my fingers that would get "heard" in the spirit I meant it. Also, probably 35% of my country would actually believe that. No joke.
