TLDR : Answer Summary
A Forex trader looking to live and train in Thailand has various visa options. It's advised to not mention trading when applying for a visa. Instead, inquire about an ED (Education) visa specifically for Muay Thai training at a recognized gym. Schools like Tiger Muay Thai can provide the necessary paperwork for the visa. While some recommend pursuing a Thai language degree to avoid being tied to one gym, others emphasize the importance of choosing a reputable Muay Thai school that offers ED visas. Keep in mind that the new digital nomad visa may also be an option, but consider its limitations regarding taxation and residency.

I am a trader living in Thailand. Been trading for 11 years. I have the Thai Elite Visa. Thai Elite Visa is the best, you don't have to worry about anything. It's all taken care of for you through their concierge service.

amazing to hear …
Jarek ************
Carful with the Educational visa as that will most likely exclude you from getting the Elite Visa if you eventually would want to go that route till you're 50 at which time you could consider the retirement visa.
Tom *********
@Jarek ***********
what? If you have an ed visa you can’t get an elite visa??
Jarek ************
@Tom ********
very much depends on which school one went to, most people with educational visas will not get approved. Feel free to contact their office to confirm or join the Elite Visa FB group as this topic has been discussed there.
Angelo ***********
@Tom ********
It is just nonsense. People are scare(d)(ing) others about ED visa. No idea why. If you have several ED visa about fishy agents, then you might have problems later.

But an Elite Visa you just buy for money. It is basically a scam by the Thai government. You pay for your 5 or 10 year visa, and that is it. No one cares about your history of other visa/visa xempt.
Jarek ************
@Angelo **********
BS, have you gone through the application process, cause I have. Contact their office and see they will say, very much depends on the school you were at and most of the BS schools do not qualify for it.
Angelo ***********
@Jarek ***********
Then they would not have qualified for the ED visa in the first place. So, what is your point? Someone had an _illegal_ visa and then gets denied an Elite Visa? Obviously. Someone has a valid ED visa and later wants an Elite Visa and can pay, he gets denied? UNLIKELY. Extremely unlikely.
Jarek ************
@Angelo **********
like I said tons of people are regularly denied because of having ED visa for private schools which were legit.

If you already 2 weeks here, you can not switch to an ED visa. It requires 21 days on your current stamp. So start initiating the process. On Phukhet Tiger Muay Thai would be a good address. Look them up, go there in person. There are several other gyms in the same road. You should check them out. Then when you are clear what to do, start the process with the school. THEN leave the country to Laos. Check first if you get another 30 days "visa exempt" or not. With those 30 days you can do the ED visa process.

Alternative, go to Chiang Mai, look for core-combat-chaing-mai. It is a self defense and Kali/MT school. They offer ED visa as well. Then again of you google "self defense chiang mai" you find several schools that offer ED visa.

Finally: you are talking super extremely disrespectful about your previous host country. Perhaps you want to review your attitude and edit/delete your posts.

Salam Alaeikum.

that’s a yoi problem my bro .. I love Thailand and I love the hustle and bustle, I love the food the people the heat and the GANJA .. paying tax ? What’s wrong with that ? Do you want to avoid tax ? Go to an Arab nation that doesn’t use tax lol ? Over run my foreigners ? I am here and still see more Thais than anyone which is a blessing
Douglas ******
I can tell you Thailand is over run with foreigners I thought about it but it's too hot too polluted and they are now taxing any foreigner who stays over 180 days.So have fun.Also foreigners can't own land.

To keep up with Visa news and coming changes get subscribed to ASEAN ….email notifications. They discuss the latest Thai proposals on various visas and new rules. For instance you arrived recently with a 30 day exempt but soon that will change to 60 day on arrival. You’ll still have to go to immigration to get another 30 which will waste most of your day.

The best of luck to you…..🙏

ED visa but you'll need paperwork from a gym that offers training and visa. Whatever you do do NOT say you're working, you'd most likely be deported.

I also have coaches that Live here and his brother that lives in the uk , they are also opening a gym here but it’s not open yet so I can’t get a admission from them just yet
Steve *******
@Ayoub ********
The gym needs to be registered to offer ED visas. Not just any gym can offer an ED visa. You'll have to train at a gym that offers the visa to stay on long term

Get admission in muay thai school and you will get 1 year Thailand ed visa
Dan *******
Don’t get an education visa for Muay Thai get an education for Thai language instead. The schools that offer the ED visa for MT aren’t usually the best or might not be suited to you. There are many great gyms in Phuket you’ll want to spend some time trying a few - I personally recommend
@Sor *********************
the coach Kru Rong
@Dejdamrong ********************
is the only men’s Thai MMA champion. If you want to fight MMA they have events at southside, bangtao and recently sinbi Muay Thai stadium.

@Dan ******
so what’s best to do ? Go visit that gym tell him I want to join up and learn more Mauy Thai ? Get an admission from them and then I can try get a ed visa ?
Dan *******
@Ayoub ********
well if you get an education visa to train Muay Thai. You’re going to be stuck at that gym because your visa will be attached to the gym. So you’ll have spent 2-3k GBP and could get stuck with poor training. It’s better to join a language school and get your ED visa through them. So you can spend a few weeks/months at a gym before deciding if you want to stay there long term
Angelo ***********
@Dan ******
In a language school: you are also stuck to the same school. You can not change an ED visa. You have to _cancel_ the original visa, leave the country, come back and do a new one.
Dan *******
@Angelo **********
yes of course but your missing the point
Angelo ***********
@Dan ******
Which point? That he should study Thai language insteead of Muay Thai? Considering that he will go to a Muay Thai school anyway, and not attend any Thai language classes, the idea to sent him to a Thai school is pretty wired.

So: what is your point?
Dan *******
@Angelo **********
‘the schools that offer the Muay Thai visa are not usually the best’

There’s no advice at all telling him not to attend language school - not sure where you got that from
Diane **********
Keep an eye on the new digital nomad visa that's coming in September... sound like it's the best option for you...

Andy **********
@Ayoub ********
How come you have 30 day visa free? I thought you said you were Morroccan. Morrocan nationals need a visa to enter Thailand. Oh wait, you are a British citizen.

Or maybe not. Its a 5 year multi entry visa, 180 days per stay, with one time extension of 180 days. Its still a tourist visa, and will not accrue towards permanent residence. And more that 180 days per year in Thailand, and you are paying Thai tax.
Us *****
Don't mention whatever you do online. FIND A MUAY THAI SCHOOL AND GET YOUR MUAY THAI VISA. YOU ARE HERE TO STUDY MUAY THAI. THAT IS IT.

What would you advise an immigrant to the UK?

he answered it for you I am born in the uk 30 years and I was depressed so much it’s unreal I didn’t know what life was becoming I didn’t know if I was coming or going I am now two weeks in living in Thailand and my word it’s life ? I am Moroccan and always travel to Morocco and always knew the uk was a HELL HOLE !!
Andy **********
Then presumably as a Morroccan national, with limited experience of the world at large, you are already in Thailand on a visa. You entered as a tourist, but two weeks later want to change your visa status. I bet they say you need to go back to Morocco and apply for a fresh visa. Maybe try a few other countries to go on holiday first, with all the money you are making from Forex.
Ayoub *********

@Andy *********
noooo I’m born in the uk with a British Passport- no visa just on the 30 day stamp from Phuket airport
Andy **********
@Ayoub ********
So you are British, with Morroccan heritage, not a Morrocan. The UK is not a Hell Hole, no matter what Farage, himself a descendant of German immigrants, has to say about it. When people say that, they really have no idea what a Hell Hole actually is.
Leo ******

I'm pretty well travelled.. The UK is 3rd world.. The food is processed. The weather horrible. Society suppressed. Poverty struck.
Andy **********

Don't bother going.. Its a wet, damp, depressing, cold, miserable, horrible, yuk, poverty struck, over priced, shit hole that you'd have to work next week to pay for last week and the food quality is sub par.. Everybody that is able is leaving the UK where possible for a better quality life as the immigrants destroy the place even further..
