Flights out are cheaper than the extension fee so I guess one can dispense with the "interim" extensions and just extend the last entry?

Thanks guys. So the trick really is to re enter on the last day your visa is valid, get 60 days and then extend by 30.

I might go to KL anyway and if they screw me I can come in on the 30 day waiver, extend once and then fly to Calcutta and do it there.

I am an Indian resident and the choice is between flying to Calcutta or going to KL. KL airfare is 3000 Baht cheaper and I thought it might be a nice break, but if there are likely to be hassles perhaps I should just do it in India.
