Do I need to leave Thailand to activate a new work permit after cancelling the old one?

I cancelled my WP and extension in Saraburi yesterday and got the 7 day stamp. Do I actually have to enter another country or can I literally fly somewhere and fly straight back? (or do the same by land). I have my cancelled WP and new job offer.

TLDR : Answer Summary
After cancelling your work permit (WP) and receiving a 7-day stamp, you are required to exit Thailand to activate a new work permit with your job offer. However, some expats wonder if a quick trip to a nearby country or even a short flight out and back counts as leaving. This offers a convenient option, but make sure to check specific immigration regulations for re-entry.
