Hi guys, in view of recent developments for SA citizens I have a question. I got this non B in Savannakhet yesterday but only got stamped in until 17 October. Is this normal? ( I was expecting a year and am aware of the recent difficulties) . TIA.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A South African citizen received a Non-B visa in Savannakhet with a 90-day stamp and is questioning if this is normal. Responses clarify that a Single Entry Non-B visa typically allows for only 90 days of stay, and the individual will need to apply for a yearly extension based on their employment when the 90 days are nearing completion.

It has nothing to do with where your passport came from and everything to do with the fact that you got a 90 day single entry Non-B visa.

When your current 90 day stamp has 30 days left on it, you take documentation from your employer to the immigration office and apply for a yearly extension of stay based on employment.

you can't apply for an extension until you have 30 days or less left on your current stamp (Bangkok and Chiang Mai are 45 days or less).

You could get a single re-entry permit for 1000baht and it would keep the 90 day stamp 'alive' so that when you come back you'd be stamped in until 17 Oct again.

Thanks Tod, do I have to wait until the 30 day point? I have a wedding to attend in the US next month, so can I apply for a 're entry permit on this visa?

I think you have to get an extension. You need a work permit from the depths of lsbor

Damned auto correct! 'The Depths of Isbor' sounds like some Lord of the Rings episode lol

It’s a S single entry visa so only 90 days

Go to your areas immigration office and apply for a yearly extension of stay

You have a Single Entry Non Immigrant B visa, which gives you 90 days of stay. It is normal.
