AUSTRALIAN METV ~ HELP!

- I was issued a 6 mth. multi entry tourist visa from australia on 1 sep 2017.

- Entered thailand on 13 sep 2017 (chiang mai).

- After 60 days i extended for another 30 days at immigration (90 days total).

- Did a successful border run to tachileik, myanmar.

- Got another 60 days upon reentry, extended that again by 30 days.

Now im a week off from a total of 6 months total stay in thailand.

Did a border run to tachileik today expecting another 60 days entry.

Now the border control officer has told me my visa is now expired and hes only given me a standard 30 day no visa entry.

Their reasoning for saying my visa is expired is that my visa says 'enter before 28 feb 2018' (highlighted in red below).

I was under the understanding that it meant my first entry from australia to thailand had to be made before 28 feb.. and was also under the impression that if i extended each 60 day entry by 30 days, i could get a total amount of 9months stay in the country from this single visa.

Can i go to my local immigration to have this fixed and explain whats happened? Or am i in the wrong (lol)...

PLEASE HELP

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Australian visa holder is facing issues after a border run to Thailand, believing they could stay for a total of 9 months through extensions. However, they received a standard 30-day entry due to their METV stating an 'enter before' date, which they misunderstood. Comments clarify that the immigration officer was correct, as the visa expired before their most recent entry. Suggestions for resolving the situation include visiting local immigration to seek assistance.

enter before means you cannot enter with this visa after that date. be it first entry or not.

You confused your 60-day permission to stay stamp with the enter before date on the Visa itself which is the date you would have needed to enter to get another 60 days

Immigration officer was correct your Visa is expired

Only if you get it issued the day you travel. And even then you’d probably lose a day.

you can go get a 60 day SETV then a 30 day extension at immigration for ฿1,900...with your current 30 day stamp that will give you an extra 120 days in country...just watch out for your 2 land border crossings for the year, I’m guessing you’re down to 1 because you used 1 already...

Tod does this mean that there is no way to get 9 months out of a METV?
Robert *******
Enter before means you can use this Visa till that date. The officer at the border was right.

Simple answer, you are in the wrong. Should have entered on/before the 28th unfortunately to get 60 more days plus your 30. But you can still extend your exempt stamp by 30.

Sorry, the immigration officer is right. The last entry is before the 'enter before' date.
