If my missus is on an extension of stay (over 50), can I get a non imm O in Savannakhet based on being her hubby? (SA passport). New rules mean we cant do 2 "retirement visas" as we cant tie up $60K for 5 months.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A South African passport holder can apply for a 90-day Non-Immigrant O visa based on being married to a spouse on an extension of stay in Thailand. The application can be made at either the Vientiane or Savannakhet Thai consulate in Laos. Required documents include copies of the spouse's passport and stamps, a marriage certificate, and proof of residence. It's crucial that the passport doesn't have any notations from a Thai consulate in South Africa.

I think you should be able to get a 90 day single entry Non-O visa based on being the spouse of someone on a long term extension of stay from either Vientiane or Savannakhet.
Tod and Robert, I have looked in the files but can`t find anything. If I fly to Laos to ask for a Non O based on being a dependent of my wife, what docs should I take other than copies of her passport and stamps and a copy of my lease and marriage certificate? TIA guys!
yes, S/African passport holders CAN apply for visas at the thai consulates in LAO as long as there is NO writing on a visa you got from the thai consulate in S/A.
IF you have a passport with no notations in it, you could apply for a 90 day Non-O visa based on marriage to someone on a long term stay here, at a thai consulate then apply for a yearly extension for the same reason at the immigration office when your 90 day stamp is running out
Was on a Non B teaching but it`s not my cup of tea. I cancelled my non B and am currently on holiday in India. I will come back on an exempt or buy a SETV
