yes, you can send both ways (baht or dollars) via the

app. As an example, today’s exchange rate is 34.21, and BofA shows at 33.32 ( which the app will show). If you send $500 via baht, BofA will deliver baht. If you send via dollar, Thai bank will receive baht. So your exchange cost via sending Thai baht is about $14.76. If you send $5000 via baht, then your exchange cost is about $130. Wire transfer of any amount (sending via dollar) is $45

which will usually cost quite a bit in currency conversion charges. BofA does not offer “free” money transfers out of the goodness of their heart.

BofA only does it for “free” if you allow

them to transfer in baht at their exchange rate at that day (which is always below actual exchange rate). Depending upon how much you are sending. you could be losing hundreds of dollars due to this. If you are sending anything over $5k or so, it is better to pay BofA $45 international wire charge and have them send in dollars, which is then converted to baht at receiving bank.

Thanks. Yea, my settings are same as you show. I also purchased 10 day int’l pass before leaving USA. Initial code came through from BofA fine, but when 10 day pass ended, codes did not come through. (Not sure if coincidence or not.) I purchased a one day pass, and code immediately came. If anyone has any other thoughts to this, please let me know.

I am finding that I have to activate the Mint Mobile international option to receive secured transfer code texts from B of A to validate money transfers. Do you have the same situation? ( not a big deal, as one day international options can be purchased for $5)

I have a Thai attorney ( not agent) who has contacts at Bangkok Bank. I did not pay the attorney for this service, but did have to buy the “insurance” sold by the bank at 5900 baht

Thanks for the update. I switched from AT&T to Mint Mobile yesterday, and am leaving for Thailand tomorrow.
