John, when you say "it is possible they ask." do you mean when applying for visa they may still ask to see a statement(s)?

John, thanks for that quick reply/clarification. Another thing that was confusing was this USA resident replied talking about submitting statements but after looking at the websites of Thai embassies in USA just now they have to submit financial proof when applying which seems a bit strange. Also AI has been very inaccurate in trying to find out what is required.

John, I see you post a lot on here which is good. You posted on a question of mine saying "You apply for the METV in your home country and can show funds in your home bank account, you don't need 6 months bank history. If you have a lot of recent history in Thailand a tourist visa might not help though" This answer to Debbie seems different, I'm not looking to find faults, just a clarification. Additionally Mr AI and a lot of people say you do have to submit bank statements, sometime 3 months, sometimes 6 months. I have attached a screenshot from Thai London Embassy which says nothing about financial proof. TBH my head is spinning trying to work out what I need to do for my planned trip in December.

Many thanks to anyone who replied with useful and relevant advice. I also had some in depth talks and shared your replies with some very knowledgeable people at an expats group I attend in Bangkok and I now have a plan in place for next winter.

Gerry Durkin Thanks Gerry, that's good info. I'm from Scotland and done similar to you this last 2 years. I spend 3 months of winter in Thailand with 2 short breaks out, Saigon, S'pore etc. Was told to get visa for next year by I/O after 3rd/final entry on this trip. They are denitley enforcing the rules more.

Zack Stewart Zack, thanks for being able to read and understand my post. What country did you apply in? Did you correspond back and fore with them to find out they only needed 3 months
