I have not long come back from Thailand and am looking to go again in June and this time planning on applying for the multi entry visa. Do you still need to show financial proof and if so is it the same amount as DTV?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) generally does not require financial proof, according to several commenters who emphasized that basic details are needed for the application. However, it is crucial to demonstrate the rationale for needing the METV, such as providing round-trip flight tickets. Some confusion arises from differing requirements across various Thai embassies, especially regarding financial proof, as some embassies may still request bank statements despite the general guideline. It is advisable to consult the specific Thai embassy or consulate's website for the most accurate requirements.

Am I missing something here?

Because for some time now, all Thai Tourist E–Visa's, both Single Entry (valid for 90 days) and Multiple Entry (valid for 180 days) on the Thai eVisa Website used by all Thai Embassies and Thai Consulates around the world:

clearly state and Ask to Upload Documents for Financial Requirements of = ฿20,000.– Thai Baht or local currency equivalence, as might be set by any particular Thai Embassy/Consulate

Financial proof is not needed. Official requrements for all visa linked. Be aware though, that some Thai embassies just ivent additional "rules" at times. So best to check with your specific embassy:

Tourist visa requirements are not same as DTV. Best would be to check from local embassy’s website.

The Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) doesn't require financial proof but you do need to show why you need an METV, so ticket in, ticket out and ticket in again

John, I see you post a lot on here which is good. You posted on a question of mine saying "You apply for the METV in your home country and can show funds in your home bank account, you don't need 6 months bank history. If you have a lot of recent history in Thailand a tourist visa might not help though" This answer to Debbie seems different, I'm not looking to find faults, just a clarification. Additionally Mr AI and a lot of people say you do have to submit bank statements, sometime 3 months, sometimes 6 months. I have attached a screenshot from Thai London Embassy which says nothing about financial proof. TBH my head is spinning trying to work out what I need to do for my planned trip in December.

John, thanks for that quick reply/clarification. Another thing that was confusing was this USA resident replied talking about submitting statements but after looking at the websites of Thai embassies in USA just now they have to submit financial proof when applying which seems a bit strange. Also AI has been very inaccurate in trying to find out what is required.

it is possible they ask. But one thing that is for sure you should ignore much of what you find via AI. AI takes all the available information and tries to return an answer but there is so much misleading information out there it can't possibly return a reliable answer

John, when you say "it is possible they ask." do you mean when applying for visa they may still ask to see a statement(s)?
