Michael Ganzermiller I live in Phuket. Very rarely see any. There are tons of Scandinavians, though (which have much lower populations), Brits, Aussies, etc. I tend to meet more Canadians (and, no, not just Americans trying to claim Canadian) than Americans. It's pretty nice.

One of my favorite aspects of life here is that there are very few Americans. I randomly meet another one maybe once every 6 months or so. That seems to be changing, though

Haven't seen much reason to get a Wise card, but Wise is fantastic for transferring from my overseas account to my Thai account. Then I just use my Thai card/QR scan here

Graeme Drake Nice. I usually just hit the drive thru window and get it done, the drive to the immigration office takes longer than the process does (though the drive thru window just closed for renovations and upgrades a couple weeks back)

90 day reporting is so simple and easy, don’t worry too much about it. Also, it’s not a stamp. Many visa types have to do it. It’s a part of life for those of us who stay long term (retirement visa do it, as do folks with the elite visa. I think business and marriage may have to as well but I’m not 100% sure about those two). Also keep in mind, DTV isn’t a very strong visa, despite people expecting Thailand to be rolling out the red carpet for them because they have DTV.

TDAC isn't any sort of entry, it's just an arrival card. Depending on your nationality, you can enter with a visa exemption stamp (most people do this). Probably best to just apply for the 6 month tourist visa if you intend to stay that long. Thailand has been cracking down on the visa exemption as people have been abusing it

Do you have any family or trusted friends whose address you could use?

Ian Hojo you seem rude and entitled, and disrespectful towards immigration officers who dare question you. Look at your travel patterns, understand they are cracking down on people abusing the system. If you don’t like it, then sort out a proper visa. If you can’t do that, then Thailand is better off without you and your snotty entitled attitude. Have a nice day :)

You ask people not to be rude or offensive, yet you referred to what I can only assume to be the immigration officer as a "jumped up 12 year old", and seem to have the arrogance to feel that you are not to be questioned in any way while trying to enter a country that is not your own. Have I got that right?

Go to immigration and get your stamps moved over to the new passport. That's pretty standard protocol. And yeah, some of the visas are still pasted in to the book, such as the privilege visa. When I got a new passport, I went to immigration and got the stamps moved over, and a new visa sticker (same visa) was affixed in the passport so I wouldn't have to carry both with me all the time (though it was recommended that I do so for my first exit/entry after, but it's not been an issue). A bit of a hassle to go and queue up and all that but at the end of the day it wasn't all that difficult a process
