What are the recent changes to Wise accounts in Thailand and how do they affect users?

Hey some changes coming to WISE

- you can now link your Thai bank account to wise 
- you can now order a wise card sent to you in thailand

- they are now fixing / adding Scan pay - Prompt Pay to wise

However in may you can NOT use wise card to withdraw cash from ATM anymore inside thailand

From my understanding this is for accounts registered in thailand accounts registered else where may not be affected this will be interesting to see either way

You couldn't do ATM withdrawals before those changes, not with a thai wise account. Because thai wise accounts couldn't get a card in the first place.

Instead of a restriction, these changes do actually give the possibility to have a wise card in the first place 😏

If you can qualify for the Thai wise account, you can likely get a local account anyways.  Converting a current wise account to Thai looks like a horrible idea.

The big question is, can we have two Wise accounts: one Thai Wise accoiunt, while keeping our Wise account from abroad - to combine the best of both worlds?

No changes will affect me all I use wise for is transferring money from my us account into my thai account

Haven't seen much reason to get a Wise card, but Wise is fantastic for transferring from my overseas account to my Thai account. Then I just use my Thai card/QR scan here

Not worth creating a Wise account in Thailand if you don’t have one yet. They have some heavy restrictions:

- You'll no longer be able to use Wise to transfer money between two overseas bank accounts outside of Thailand.

- You'll no longer be able to send non-THB currencies from your Wise account (e.g. USD, GBP) to an overseas bank account. You have to convert to THB then send it (2 currency conversions)

Do not update your address to Thailand, this would be an inferior experience compared to what you have now.
