Hi, i have a DTV visa. No one told me about the 90 day reporting. It defeats the purpose of the DTV visa entirely, which I got so that I don't need a new visa stamp every 90 days. Who of you lives in the countryside? How do u manage? Is the best practice 90 day > report > 6month extension >on month9 report again> month 12 visa run?
Answer summary
Holders of the DTV visa in Thailand are required to comply with the 90-day reporting rule, which entails notifying Thai Immigration of their current address every 90 days if they remain in the country for over 90 consecutive days. This process includes an initial in-person report and subsequent reports that can often be done online. Although some find this requirement burdensome, it is a longstanding legal obligation. Various comments suggest that the practice is manageable and emphasize the importance of understanding visa regulations before moving to Thailand.

I have a 20 year elite visa and still need to do 90 day report. It takes less than 10 minutes. You might be able to do it online, the online system is hit and miss sometimes though. But it’s not like you never leave the country side, just make it a day trip to the city when you have to do the report.

Might want to understand legal documents before signing or applying.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse. Go to immigration report your 90-day

Thailand’s 90-day reporting (often called TM47) is the requirement to confirm your current address to Thai Immigration every 90 days only if you stay in Thailand for 90 consecutive days.

Who has to do it (including DTV)

• If you’re in Thailand more than 90 continuous days, you must report.

• DTV holders: Yes—you still do 90-day reporting if you remain in Thailand over 90 consecutive days.

When it’s due (the window)

You can file within a 23-day window:

• 15 days before your 90th day, up to

• 7 days after your 90th day

90 day reporting is part of life for anyone on a long term visa, minus one long term visa

The only way a foreigner does not do a 90 day report is if you

Buy the 10 year LTR Visa

Are fortunate enough to obtain a PR or citizenship

Good luck

Rules are rules. I am on a yearly business visa extension, but I have to report my 90-day status too. That's Thailand for ya.

90 day report does not give you any stamps... And probably takes less time than it took you to write this post

You should also look into the DTV extension at 6 months. I don’t hear of people actually doing that. Check into what is required at the immigration office you will be using.

90 day reporting is so simple and easy, don’t worry too much about it. Also, it’s not a stamp. Many visa types have to do it. It’s a part of life for those of us who stay long term (retirement visa do it, as do folks with the elite visa. I think business and marriage may have to as well but I’m not 100% sure about those two). Also keep in mind, DTV isn’t a very strong visa, despite people expecting Thailand to be rolling out the red carpet for them because they have DTV.

yep marriage does, hassle free 5 minutes at immigration then a trip to the Mall for lunch.

Graeme Drake Nice. I usually just hit the drive thru window and get it done, the drive to the immigration office takes longer than the process does (though the drive thru window just closed for renovations and upgrades a couple weeks back)

Do it online. You don’t have to go in. First 90 day you have to present in person after that online is fine

MagentaLion4613 - if it is that much trouble for you just leave and go back to your home country. DTV holders need to comply with Thai laws and the 90 day reporting has been law for many years.

No stamp at all , a piece off paper stapled to a page in your passport, not a big deal , you can also do it on line

Most DTV holders will never be able to do a 90-day report online. As the first report after entering the country must be done in person. Since most DTV holders will be leaving after 6 months and returning, they will always have to do that first report in person.

90 day report is not a new stamp. It's simply a requirement for all foreigners who stay 90 days to notify immigration that you still reside at your current address. So doesnt matter if its a 5 year tourist visa or a 1 year extension of stay, 90 day reports are required.

The point of a DTV is to have legal permission to stay in Thailand. It has nothing to do with getting stamps in your passport, and a 90-day report is not a stamp in your passport, it's a slip of paper.

99% of people cannot get an extension for the DTV in Thailand, as immigration does not want to do it and will tell you to do a border bounce.

That means most people will be entering, doing a 90-day report, and then doing a border bounce. Repeat for ~5 years if you want.

If you do manage to get an extension, that has nothing to do with 90-day report, and you will possibly have to still do the 90-day report separately from the extension.

You can just leave every 90 days if you don't want to worry about the report. Or pay an agent to do it for you. Or just ignore it, as it's a 2000 baht fine if you are caught regarding it.
