Want to scan with QR to pay? There’s a solution! TrueMoney Wallet supports PromptPay… as long as you upgrade to an Advanced Account!
It took me a while to figure out how to upgrade because it always seemed to fail, plus it took a handful of chats with customer service to get good answers. I finally got it working! So I thought I would share the solution, and the reason!
FYI, this worked for a DTV visa with an American passport. I don’t know every solution for every visa or country, so I can’t promise this will work for everyone. But, this will probably help for a bunch of situations!
First, of course, create a True Money Wallet account. Next, when upgrading, pick the document that applies, for me it was Non-Immigrant Visa.
For work, put “freelancer,” and/or for location, put “home.”
Next, you will submit two photos for proof:
1. A photo of your e-visa (printout or a picture of your computer screen displaying the visa)
2. A picture of your visa stamp passport page (such as the DTV stamp) NEXT TO YOUR FACE!!!!! That part is very important and this missing bit of info required to complete the step.
Why do you have to take a picture of the stamp page next to your face? According to the support agent that helped me, it’s because American passports, for example, do not show the passport number on that page. Because that information is missing, they require a second bit of information in the photo, such as your face.
Please do not ask me to explain the logic here, because I absolutely will not be able to. But, I can tell you for a fact that this worked for me!
Can the TrueMoney app be topped up with cash and where? Can I use it to pay by scanning a QR code (Prompt Pay)? So far I have only used it to pay at 7-Eleven by the shop scanning my app's QR code.
How am i suppose to get salary from singapore company? They doesnt allow us opening bank account. I cant use my own country bank account due to political problems. What is prompt pay in thailand does it require bank account? Any suggestion to how to get the salary from singapore?
Morning. Would be great some informations because I’m not really sure.
I’m currently in Thailand and I have the DTV. I read that it was possible, to open a Thai bank account with this visa type. So I went to Bangkok bank here in krabi and they said that is not longer possible with the DTV.
The only reason to have a Thai bank account for now is only because then I could pay with promptpay and don’t need so much cash. It’s only a comfortable thing.
My setup: I’m German. I have a German bank account and a Revolut account. With Revolut I can do transfers to Thailand using swift. Costs a little fee, but this is ok.
And now the question: Is there any way to use digital payment in Thailand without Thai bank account? Or is there a way to get one?
I have heard of a new app called JamJang (or Jam Jang?) which allows tourists to use PromptPay QR codes without a Thai bank account. The app sounds perfect in theory but I am hesitant to download it because it's only 3 months old and there is close to zero information on it. It just seems a bit... dodgy. Has anyone here used JamJang?
Any one use promptpay. I got caught out at a restaurant yesterday with not the correct amount so they wanted me to use the scan qr code. Any one used this. I believe can use non Thai banks but expensive fees. I can register a BKK bank account but means visiting a branch.
Hi all, I have just filed my taxes and it looks like I'm getting a small amount back. They require promptpay for this, but I can't link that to my Thai ID because I'm not Thai. How does this work?
