For your ฿20,000 is that per person or for two if traveling as a couple? Also do travelers cheques count, or do they even exist? Just an aside does Thailand not know this is the twenty-first century and most people use ATM cards when traveling?
I got that response 7 days after I registered. That was last Saturday, still no E mail. I have to go to immigration for a 90 day report next Friday, do if I haven't got anything by then hopefully they can straighten things out.
Your husband can get a Non Immigrant Oa Visa, if he has the equivalent of ฿800,000 it can be in a Canadian Bank. It is multiple entry and if you leave Thailand the day it expires and return the same day, you get another 1 year. It for sure would be the best for your husband, I'm not sure if you can piggy back on it or not. Write the Thai embassy in Ottawa or your closest consulate and explain the situation to them and they will help you out. I found the consulate in Toronto very helpful, but that was a fifteen years ago, they have a new consulate general now, but I did correspond with him a couple of years back, and he was helpful. That was by email.
Okay, if your friend is over 50 and has had ฿800,000 in a Thai Bank he can go to his local immigration office and ask for an extension based on retirement. If he is a non British, US, or Australian citizen and makes over ฿65,000 a month and us over 50, he can get an income letter from his embassy and apply for an extension of stay bases on retirement. If he is married to a Thai or has a resident Thai child, he can with proper documents apply for an extension of stay based on marriage or supporting a child.
If close to the Airport go there, I believe there is an immigration office on the outside. However if you have gone upcountry already, go to your closest office. My friend had a similar then happened and we went to Mukdahan, the closest office. They made a few phone calls and eventually figured it out.
Did you get an extension of stay for twelve months, is that what you mean.
Your letter of income would still be valid, they are good for six months. My understanding is Australia is one of the four embassies that no longer gives out letters of income, so you will have to plan for next year. Either ฿800,000 in a Thai Bank, or ฿65,000 deposited into your Thai Bank every month, not an average, but ฿65,000 every month.
