- No one is afraid. This issue has happened multiple times now and most who did reach out to the embassy never hear back. I am curious, why are you reaching out multiple times?

It takes that embassy 5-10 business days to process. You don’t count the day of submission in that count. Since Monday was a Thai holiday, today is the 2nd business day. 3 to 8 more to go (Monday will be a holiday too).

He wasn’t suppose to leave Laos while the visa is being processed. Therefore, he is out of luck. He can not use the missing flight excuse, as it will directly inform them he didn’t follow the rules. Furthermore, how does one miss their flight?

Anonymous participant - 1. You would need to convince the embassy that your medical issues forced you to leave. That might be hard to do. It would probably need to be something very serious that could not be addressed locally. If that serious, they might have concerns with you moving to Thailand, as how will it be dealt with there? Even if you have an amazing excuse why you had to leave, medically, there is a good chance that they will still reject, as they on not big on exceptions. Worst case is you get rejected and reapply again. However. What is confusing is the statement that you left Vietnam and are not in Thailand either. Where are you? And why didn’t you just apply from that location in the first place?

Anonymous participant What does going to a Vietnam hospital have to do with entering Thailand?

As you know, you were not supposed to leave Vietnam while you visa was being processed. You decided to do so anyway. Now the embassy for some reason has belief you are not there and wants proof that you are still there. Even if you go back, they might later ask for each page of your passport, which would show exit/entry stamps.

If you have a visa, you enter the number, if you don’t have a visa, you leave it blank. That is why their is no red star, as it isn’t 100% required

What makes it confusing though, is the embassy might already think the SETV has been used and therefore no longer valid. Not clear if they have access to the immigration database. With the METV, it is usually issued by MoFA via an embassy and since it is multi-entry, they can clearly know it is still active until the expiration date comes. I believe the only way they would know is if they asked to see every page in the passport and see that he didn’t enter on a SETV

There is a possibility that the embassy won’t issue a DTV, since they can see that you have a tourist visa. However, not sure if they can see if it was used or not, so not sure
