So I work for an oil company and get 3-4 months on then get 3-4 months off. I’ve been living in Thailand since November. How can I get the dtv with this work schedule? Does this apply as workation? I’m back in my home country try at work atm but would like to get the visa before I return.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, working for an oil company with a 3-4 month on/off schedule, inquires about obtaining a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) for Thailand. Comments suggest that a key requirement for the DTV is a letter from their employer permitting remote work from Thailand. Some responses recommend considering a soft power visa (involving cultural courses like Muay Thai) or a multi-entry tourist visa instead, which may be more accessible.

DTV soft power is the go

Apply for soft power - as your not a remote worker. Fight EVO360 Thailand - Thepprasit Boxing Stadium very knowledgeable about the DTV.

As long as you could get HR to write a letter allowing you to “work remotely in Thailand” then you qualify. Easier this route than soft power learning way.

I have multiple friends with jobs like that. It honestly doesn't matter what your job is, you just need an approval letter from your boss or HR.

DTV is not for language schools, there you should go for a ED visa, if trying to get language on DTV, Embassies give a ED visa or reject, and keep all the 10.000 baht DTV visa fee.

Only apply for ED if you really want to be a fulltime student, or you may end up in troubles.

Just go thru the #2 category

Multi entry tourist visa probably easier

Can apply for tourist visa, no need for dtv. 6 months multi entry twice a year.

I see that you asked the same question back in September. It is still the same. Part of the application requires you to have your employer state you have permission to work remotely from Thailand. It doesn’t sounds like you can get something like that.
