TLDR : Answer Summary
A user in India has applied for the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand, showing a significant amount of savings and proof of employment in a travel company. However, they have concerns about their application's eligibility and potential rejection, prompting them to seek advice from the community. Responses indicate confusion over document requirements, residency length, and concerns regarding the business's compliance with Thai regulations. The discussion highlights the intricacies of the DTV application process and emphasizes the importance of submitting error-free documentation.

Make sure your data was all typed correctly, rookie mistake usually.

Maybe something to do with the business? If it does anything within Thailand they won’t like that

Enough Indian Taylor’s already there…🤣

I’d say it’s got something to do with your employment being in the tourist industry this probably doesn’t play much in your favor.

Recently there has already been incidents in the tourist areas, of foreigners working illegally in the tourism sector appealing to their Nationalities for business.

As for the UK, Australian, NZ visas doesn’t really matter as completely different countries and process, and TBH they’re giving those out to just about anyone with a boat and a set of paddles at the moment… hence why I moved to Thailand 🇹🇭

well i have no plans to move to thailand, just want visa for long stay if i want , usually i stay 20-30 days only

And i am doing this since 2004

Without any over stay or issues
Marcus ******
Anonymous participant if you only stay 20-30 days currently the VOA is 60 days, with a possible 30 day extension so 90 days in total 🤷‍♂️ no need for a DTV really. DTV is designed for long stay 180+ days… 👍
Wannikea *********
What additional documents did they ask for, screenshot the request please. And did you supply the requested documents?
Greg ********
@Wannikea ********
He is applying as a Travel Agent and says he is authorised by TAT ie working with Thai organisations and companies. DTV is not the visa for this situation.

@Greg *******
correct he's to much of a risk.

Can come, set up a Ltd company, employ Thais and pay taxes like other companies do.

I think the office may have realised his true intention was to buy a beer and share it amongst 4 others 😝 clearly they’ve started to wake up and want spenders!

FWIW I learned that some embassies (like those in Vietnam) consider any redaction on submitted documents as "tampering" and may reject them outright (depending on the person processing)

Anonymous post but we know you are Amit. Hi Amit.
Ruel *******
How long has it been till you started your application. The system will automatically remove applications not completed within a time period. I can’t recall whether it is 10 or 14 days.
Anonymous *************

@Ruel ******
all process took 4 days

Payment - Pending document check - pending approval - additional docs - mail visa application cancelled
Ruel *******
It is 14 days not completed - system will automatically remove the application.
Wannikea *********
@Ruel ******
those are unsubmitted applications. His was submitted and cancelled/rejected.
Greg ********
Where is your travel company based? Will you be dealing with Thais or Thai companies such as Hotels or tours etc. If so you cannot do that on the DTV

india based for indians only

It is rejected or not eligible ?

Anonymous participant Hi Amit. So no business with Indians travelling to Thailand at all? What is the remote work you will actually be doing while you are in Thailand?

@Greg *******
i have website and 100% work is online , flights , hotels , travel insurance , Transfers , Activities all online
Andi ***********
Anonymous participant You are using Thai companies for transfers, hotels etc you doing business with Thai firms it is not DTV compliant.

@Andi **********
no no , Our all vendors and supplier are not thai , but may be thai partners with vendors
Andi ***********
Anonymous participant I understand you are not doing it face to face but it still is a Thai related business as you are using Thai partners. Your business is registered with TAT confirms your connection to the Thai economy. It is not given to a business with no connection to Thailand.
Greg ********
Anonymous participant Do you deal with Thai Companies? If so you cannot do it on DTV in Thailand. It is pretty obvious your application is outside the DTV conditions
Andi ***********
@Greg *******
it is virtually impossible to operate an online travel business and have no contact with a Thai firm, dont you think ?
Greg ********
@Andi **********
Further up the thread he says he is TAT authorised. So yes he is working with Thai Companies and Organisations. FFS
Andi ***********
@Greg *******
OMG....how can he put that in his application???.
Greg ********
@Andi **********
1) Does not know the DTV conditions OR 2) Trying a cheap option of operating his business in Thailand ie getting around Work Permits? Cost of running a company and Thai staff etc
Anonymous *************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Greg *******
no no

We just do , Safe travel for groups and Family in multiple countries , we not do Work permit n jobs
Greg ********
@Andi **********
Of course lol. It is pretty transparent what is happening here and reason for cancellation of application by the embassy.

Choosing to apply as a travel agent, very risky...
Greg ********
@Andi **********
Most definately. He says Indian based for Indians only but are those Indians travelling to Thailand or anywhere but Thailand? Any local contact by him here with hotels, with clients or any other Thai entity needs a Work Permit and not a DTV.
Andi ***********
@Greg *******
He will be profiting via the thai hotels, tour guides, transportation used. etc..

@Andi **********
I thought it would be Immigrations decision and not the MFA? They would have input but final decision on interior is the Interior department. It would be like the FCDO UK telling the Home Office their immigration and visa policy. In fact the MFA has absolutely no touch points with any visitor on Visa Exempt in their customer journey :-)
Andi ***********
@Greg *******
I would not be surprised if it ends being 45 days - a compromise of sorts. The impact on the economy weighs heavy on the decision
Sam ******
You probably just made a typo

„Cancelled“ = you made an error on your part
Olav *******
yes, "auto generated" means his info is probably wrong, often name or country

Olav Jorum Yep, many times it's about the passport data... "country of issue and/or place of issue". Same same, but different. And the "automatic pre-check" is absolutely merciless...

may be your are right

But i checked multiple times
Anonymous *************

Anonymous participant i checked 3 times, if there is any error they never ask , additional documents to support freelancer status
John *******
Anonymous participant did you check after you uploaded your passport bio page? The webpage will overwrite cells with what it believes it reads on your passport. It is notoriously riddled with errors. Need to review afterwards. Also, little things like middle names. Some applicants have middle names, but they are not included on their passport (only other govt documents), if you include it on your application, you will get a canceled message. Similarly, when it comes to place of passport issued. While your passport might list a province or an embassy, you need to state your nationality/country.

And they ask me Additional documents as well but all process took 4 days

Anonymous participant what documents did they ask for?
Anonymous ******************
Apply in Jakarta or Hanoi.
Andi ***********
Anonymous participant 979 Do not think that will make much difference. He runs a travel agency who uses Thai businesses for his Indian Clients. DTV does not cover that a work/business permit will. He is also certified via TAT which is given to Thai related businesses.

Did you check your passport and personal information all matched up

The whole DTV and general visa choices are becoming a joke because of the constant changes....
Matthew *******
@Pete ********
Try ask a Thai person trying to get visa to US or EU? You are speaking form a privileged ground. It’s not hard to pick the right visa to fit the needs and qualifications. If not. Maybe it’s a better choice to stay home.
Pete *********
And I do, my Thai partner is coming to AU soon, the issue is Thailand does not have consistent requirements as they are ever changing...
Luit *****************
@Pete ********
The changing is annoying, but made necessary because heavily misuse, which is caused by having loopholes in requirements. For some reason it is difficult for Thai to look already and predict what will happen. The change of visa exempt from 30 to 60 days was made to get tourists stay longer. The average tourist from western countries stayed about 2-3 weeks, Asian tourists did stay 1 week on average. So 30 days was more than enough, the change to 60 days would not get more tourists, but would make it easier for people who wanted to live in Thailand without visa. The DTV in itself is a good idea, but there are too many loopholes.
Matthew *******
@Pete ********
Yes. It’s hard when they are constantly shifting goalpost. But that’s the thing we will have to put up with if not will have to stay home or choose another country to go to.
Tommy ********
@Pete ********
it’s to keep anyone from coming in. Thailand used to only allow legit professionals and want to try limit the numbers imo. That’s why they making it harder. Still, now people who don’t even travel or know Thailand want to come live here to try and impose their own way of life.
