TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing difficulty contacting the DTV office in Ho Chi Minh City and seeks urgent advice. Responses suggest either going directly to the consulate or calling the Thai Embassy in Hanoi for better assistance. Additionally, some comments mention the issue with obtaining a DTV while a METV is still valid and advise waiting for further developments.
DTV applications are not exactly a priority for Embassy/Consulate staff. The reason they went to eVisa was to reduce face to face requirements and improve process flow.
happened to me but not DTV at the time.called no answer nothing and I went up talked to security at the door they went in talked to staff and they let me in
exactly James it's very simple really and he should have know the process before applying for the DTV. He is trying to fool the embassy but they have his immagration records so follow the rules simple
I have posted separately in this chat earlier today, but my issue is that my TR visa (applied from UK), is valid until mid April. I actually just briefly got through on the phone, they didn't help much at all, but they said I can't have two visas, so I have to wait until this TR visa expires and re-apply (meaning come back to Vietnam mid April). They said I could try and cancel my visa by contacting the UK Thai embassy, but they don't know if I can do this, or if my DTV will approved. I also said how will I re-enter Thailand if I cancel my tourist and my DTV gets denied and they didn't have an answer either.
Anonymous participant - They answered your questions. You can not have two valid visas at the same time. Some have been able to do this because their other visa was through immigration, but your first/valid visa is through MOFA and therefore they can see it in their system, if you apply for the DTV now or after your TR expires, either way you will need to be in Vietnam with no formal visa that lets you back into Thailand, until approved for
I'd suggest that the only people who have been able to do this were not actually on a visa at all but on an extension of stay (which often gets wrongly called a visa)
Anonymous participant you have a METV multiple entry tourist visa...you cannot get a New Thai Visa until what you NOW have expires. That's why they are not going to issue a DTV Visa to you.
Anonymous participant well, you have your answer there. Use your METV until it's expired and then apply for DTV. You cannot habe two visas at the same time.
If your DTV is denied, you can try to apply for a new METV or try to enter Thailand on visa exemption.
