They turned my then G/F away, because the computers were down - cost me $300+. Second time, the IO told her she would NEVER set foot in the U.S. and didn't even look at her papers(Nice guy, huh?). We been married and living in the US for 9 years now - K1 visa did the trick.

Www.visajourney.com for up to date info and timelines. I did a K-1 visa and it took about nine months.

DTV holder here - super easy, super cheap. Downside is - you can’t apply for it while in Thailand.

From VJ. com... "IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visas are immigrant visas issued to foreign spouses of US Citizens. After the US citizen spouse files (and has approved) the proper petition with the USCIS, the foreign spouse will complete the visa process completely outside the US. Upon approval and once issued, the foreign spouse may enter the US with their visa and pass through the arrival Port of Entry, where they will become a Permanent Resident immediately." (

As mentioned - VisaJourney.com is a great source of info - including current timelines per/location. I would suggest you NOT travel during the next few weeks (or, until you are notified). My wife and I were out of the country, and had to return when we got notice for an appointment.

Down South is where the smog appears when Indonesia is burning their fields. Couldn't see the sun in Phuket for days, a few years ago.
