Non-Immigrant O Visa report

I tried to covert from a METV (6 month) to a Non-Immgrant O (spouse) visa at Wattana and didn't have much luck. I was given reasons for the denial that aren't actual requirements (need to be married for 3 months, no Thai bank account, home photos a little too small) and told I should "find someone to help me".

Anyway, made the run to Vientiane Laos and it was easy. Apply online once you arrive, go the office to pay your 2,000 baht fee, wait for the email with your visa. Would have taken just 3 days if it weren't for the consulate being closed for Songran, and the weekend.

Only needed half the documents, all PDF. 7 days total time. Easy. They'll want color copies of your marriage certs, and your spouses Thai ID with a signature and date at the bottom. It's a little work to get your files down to the 3MB limit.

I ran into a few DTV applicants at my hotel, they seemed to be happier with the process, and expected they'd have theirs in a day two as well.

Has anyone had their spouse denied a DTV when applying based on the primary applicant’s approved DTV? If so, what was the reason?

Hey everyone! I just got denied after 4 days in Hanoi. Every requiremet met. I had 500k over 4months, soft power cooking class for 6months. I just also read that its happening to more people applying in Hanoi. What is my best route now, re apply in a different country? I suspect they might be rejecting due to a high volume of applicants…

What a joke! I got 6 month multiple entry visa instead of 5 years DTV.

I applied from Jakarta (workcation), the interview went well too (the interviewer was satisfied with the contracts, client chats I showed), I don't know what happened next.

Any Indians who recently got approved can tell me how much money you had in your bank account and for how long? Is 10 lakhs enough? Or 13.89 lakhs (converting 500k THB)? Especially those who applied at Chennai.

Update: I reapplied at the same embassy one week later, with 6 months muay thai, via "Issa Compass" agency, and sent more freelance work invoices, and got approved

Denied in Taipei🥲

Type: remote worker (for 1 company, not freelance)

Situation: coming from non B visa

Heartbroken to say that I was denied in Taipei. It is a specific situation, as I have worked in Thailand, legally for 3 years. I accepted a remote job and came to Taipei to switch my visa type to DTV.

Even with a current contract and first payment made by current company (+600,000 tbh banked and consistent income for past 6 months from past job), they denied because they wanted me to have 6 months of income *from my current contract.*

Note: I also had everything else in order, including the employment letter (stating remote position), company registration documents etc.

The issue they had, specifically, was was that I hadn’t been in my current role for 6 months. Pretty much they told me to leave and try again in 6 months time when I am established at my new job. There was no remedying it with them.

— and genuinely this was so shocking because I’d never heard of this being the case for anyone else before. Am I wrong on this?

So, if you are coming from a non B and are switching to remote work, please be aware that this is the way Taipei approaches this scenario.

If you have a similar work history but successfully gotten a DTV visa, can you please comment? I’d really like to understand what else I can do and how I can better plan my application in the future.
