American citizen, looking for some help with DTV application under soft powers medical treatment. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I am currently in Thailand, and am receiving long-term medical treatment. I plan to fly out and apply for the DTV in a nearby country in the upcoming weeks.. I am not sure which country would be best for my situation. My questions are as follows:

I just recently (in October) put enough money into my bank account to meet the 500k requirement, but I see that some Thai Embassies may require bank statements from the last 3 months. Is there any country near Thailand that has an embassy that only requires the current month bank statement/balance?

Also, I read on one post that someone's DTV for medical treatment application was denied because the name of the doctor on the medical letter was not on the clinic/hospitals website. Has anyone else run into this issue and what embassy was this at? The clinic where I am currently receiving treatment does not have a website (it's complicated), so I am not sure if this would be an issue.

Once again, thank you for the help!

I am considering applying for DTV for medical visa. I have a spine condition and have already seen a doctor in Bangkok who gave me a medical certificate with diagnosis and treatment plan however the certificate says treatment (being medical physical therapy at a hospital) for 6 weeks. However since he only wrote it for 6 weeks would it not be approved? Should I ask for a longer treatment plan?

So last week I got my DTV from Taipei. I think I might be one of those “complicated” applications alluded to in another’s post 🙂.

I will make a separate post in a day or so to explain why my particular circumstances caused some challenges for the staff at the embassy (needless to say, everything regarding my application was totally above board), and what I learnt from the experience, which may help others.

But that is not what this post is about.

Now I have my DTV, I need to sort out one for my wife. And my question is rather simple.

It looks like the spousal requirements are very simple, but what I don’t know is whether there is any benefit in the spouse applying to the same embassy/consulate that the primary DTV holder did. I went to Taipei from Thailand because of the good reputation of the embassy there, but perhaps now I have mine, my wife can get hers more locally.

Anyone with experience of this?

Additionally, when one is applying for a spousal DTV at a later date than the primary, is a new (more up to date) bank statement needed, or can she just use the same one that I did?

TIA.

I submitted for my DTV as a remote employee on July 20th. Just got this back… I’m thinking they want tax returns and paystubs because my bank statement has myself and my husband on it and they want to see my individual income?

I have a contract with an international school in BKK. I am here on a retirement visa (came in on O visa - counsel general advice) and am told by immigration that I have to leave country to have any chance at a Non B. In addition I have to cancel retire visa before I leave and it is up to whatever agent at an embassy how long I get to stay here at that point. Was told I would not get a tourist visa, that would all be up whatever embassy. Nightmare - I am veteran teacher from U.S. with an M.S. and great references but am older. I have been here for over a year. Any legit advice? Where to go? What all will an embassy ask for? How long will it take and cost? When I got retire visa lawyer said no problem switching visa. What a cluster.....

Thanks in advance for advice.
