🚨 DTV Visa Rejected?

Since the DTV visa became available, I have helped many people apply through different Thai embassies and consulates.

From what I’ve observed in this group, there seem to be some common patterns and mistakes that appear more frequently in applications that receive additional document requests, delays, or sometimes rejection.

Quite often, it comes down to small details that were overlooked during the application process.

Here are some common issues I’ve seen:

📌 Passport Upload Issues

Your passport image should look like a proper scan — no shadows, no fingers holding the passport, clear corners, and good image quality.

The Thai e-Visa system uses AI to read your passport and automatically fill in parts of the application form. While this is convenient, it isn’t always accurate.

I’ve seen cases where the AI misspelled a name, entered the wrong passport number, or incorrectly read personal information.

Before moving to the next page, always double-check your full name, passport number, date of birth, and all auto-filled information. Even one incorrect letter or number can create unnecessary complications.

📌 Visa Photo Matters More Than People Think

I always recommend using a clear photo with a white background, wearing polite clothing with shoulders covered, and presenting a neat and professional appearance.

Your visa photo is part of how you present yourself to the embassy, and a clean, professional photo helps create a better impression.

📌 Low-Quality Supporting Documents

This is more common than people realize.

The Thai e-Visa system has file size limits, and many documents must be uploaded at less than 3 MB per file.

Because of this, some applicants compress their documents too much, resulting in files that become blurry, pixelated, incomplete, or difficult to read.

Before uploading, make sure all pages are included and that names, dates, financial figures, and other important information can be clearly seen.

Whenever possible, use original PDF files or proper scans rather than screenshots.

One thing I always tell clients is:

“Don’t only think about what you can see on your screen. Think about what the embassy officer will see on theirs.”

📌 Your Information Should Make Sense Together

One of the most overlooked issues is inconsistency between documents.

For example, if you’re applying through the Muay Thai Soft Power route and state that you’ll be training in Chiang Mai, but your accommodation address is in Bangkok, it may raise questions during the review process.

Or if you’re applying as a digital nomad but your supporting documents do not clearly demonstrate your source of income, the embassy may request additional clarification.

The stronger your documents tell one consistent and logical story, the easier it is for the reviewing officer to understand your case.

📌 Additional Document Requests Are Normal

Many applicants panic when they receive a request for additional documents.

In reality, this is often just part of the process.

Most Thai embassies will clearly explain what they need, what format they want, and how they would like it submitted.

The best thing you can do is stay calm, read carefully, and follow the instructions exactly.

Getting frustrated won’t help the process, but providing the requested information clearly and professionally often does.

📌 One More Honest Observation

I also want to be realistic.

There are cases where applicants submit excellent paperwork, provide everything requested, and still receive a rejection.

At the end of the day, the final decision is made by the officer reviewing the application at the Thai embassy or consulate.

Like any process involving human review, different officers may interpret cases differently. Sometimes two very similar cases can receive different outcomes.

If you’ve experienced a rejection despite preparing everything carefully, I’m genuinely sorry. I know how frustrating that can be.

The good news is that a rejection does not necessarily mean the end of your options.

In many cases, you may still apply again through a different Thai embassy or consulate in another country. There is generally no mandatory waiting period before submitting a new application after a rejection.

However, I would not recommend applying at multiple embassies at the same time. Instead, review your case carefully, improve any weak points, and submit a stronger application strategically.

Every case is different, but preparation, consistency, and attention to detail can make a significant difference.

I hope this information helps you better understand the DTV visa process and avoid some of the common mistakes I’ve seen in real applications.

And if you’re planning to apply for a DTV visa, remember that preparation matters far more than luck. Sometimes the smallest details can make the biggest difference.

Wishing everyone a smooth application and a positive outcome. Good luck! 🙏
