Relieved to report I got my soft power DTV through from HCMC yesterday finally. Application submitted 24th April, pending approval 25th April, approved 10th May.
3 points of note from my experience:
Hanoi seems to be much quicker at processing the applications within Vietnam at the moment if you are considering an application in the country.
HCMC approved my application on a Saturday evening - this is the first report I have seen of "out of hours" approvals from this embassy.
I had an active METV in place at the point of approval of my DTV. A caveat to this is that I got a new passport in between the METV and DTV being granted.
This group has been invaluable to me so hopefully this information helps someone else.
Hi...I'm Ken - a traditional 6 month tourist visitor to Thailand. Had to pay a 10k bribe to BKK immigration recently to come in from a recent visa run or they would send me back to where I'd come form. They said they Red Flagged my passport for needing a long-term visa the next time I visit.
- The Retirement Visa doesn't work for me because I'm rather mobile and after getting one I'd be forced to return to TH in person to renew at a certain time each year.
Been looking into the METV....
If I understand it right
- It allows for a 6 month stay.
- I'm allowed to stay the first time 60 days...which can be extended an additional 30 days.
- Then I can return after a visa run and start the process over.
Questions:
- Has anyone in this group ever gotten one of these?
Good afternoon mods and community, quick question here; Italian passport (expiring at the beginning of September) and METV visa, current stamp 24FEB-24APR - got a job and I’m aware that it is possible to change type of visa, either tourist or visa waiver, to Non-Immigrant within the country. My question is, are my last two consecutive blank pages enough? And another thing, when I will get the new passport, will the work permit need to be amended with the new passport number? Thank you all
PS: I’m aware about the fact that the year extension won’t be stamped if passport expires before; my question was about the first 3 months stamp. Thank you
So, here's something I've been wondering about. What happens at the end of the Visa period if you enter Thailand say one day before your Visa expires, will you still get 180 days or just the remaining time on your Visa? Has anyone spoken to immigration about this?
Good morning to all in Thailand. I am inquiring about visa requirements: is a physical therapy clinic categorized under the medical section of the visa or are specific requirements necessary for that section of the visa?
Hey everyone. I'm planning to apply for dtv from Los Angeles for muay thai classes. Do I need to sign up for 6 months? Or is one month enough to get approved? The school is saying 1 month has been approved specifically from Los Angeles but I'm wondering if anyone has personal experience.
Hello, I entered Thailand on 6 September 2024 with French passport on a METV 6 month visa valid from 21 august 2024 - 16 February 2025. I did one 30 day visa extension just before the first 60 day deadline and then left the country twice on holiday. My latest entry stamp received at BKK airport now shows "admitted 13 January 2025 until 13 march 2025."
Should I want to stay the maximum amount of time that I can get out of this 6 month visa, must I leave the country before 16 February as shown on original visa or can I leave just prior to the latest stamp showing "until 13 march" giving me 60 more days? Could I also ask for 30 day extension just before the 13 march?
