Hi everyone,

I want to share my experience about re-entering Thailand with a DTV visa.

I am Taiwanese and hold a Taiwanese passport. Recently, I’ve seen some posts expressing concerns about re-entering Thailand. I have entered Thailand 4 times with DTV through BKK without any issues.

My DTV route is Soft Power(Muay Thai).

I just want to say that if you applied by yourself or through an agency with correct and truthful information, you should have no problems re-entering Thailand every time.

Why have I re-entered so many times? Because I love traveling. But Thailand is my favorite country.🇹🇭

I first entered Thailand in September, completed my 90-day reporting, and left for Kuala Lumpur before reaching the 180-day limit. After spending two days there, I returned and landed at DMK today..immigration was smooth with no questions asked. My DTV has now been stamped for another 180 days.

Hello, I just want to share my experience with re-entering on the DTV visa in Phuket (remote work).

A few days ago I arrived back to Phuket after a short 2 day trip in Dubai. I presented my passport to the immigration officer and he said "oh DTV". He took my passport to his colleague and after a quick chat asked me to follow him to the immigration office. I was asked to provide all the documentation I used to apply for the DTV visa. Luckily I had it on my laptop.

The immigration officer asked all sorts of questions like: Did I apply for the DTV visa myself? Why did I apply in Hanoi if I am an Australia citizen and UAE resident? How much money do I have?

After about 1 hour of talking to multiple immigration officers and sending my documents via email to the imm. office at the airport, I was granted a 180-day stamp.

All the immigration officers were very nice and even explained why they decided to check all my documents. According to them, it turns out that a lot of fake papers were used to obtain DTV visas in Vietnam, Loas and Myanmar,... He said if I applied in Australia or Dubai then there would be no issues. The imm officer said they do a better job of checking papers in non SEA countries.

I have a remote work DTV visa (workaction) and am employed by a US registered company. Everything is fully transparent and documented.

However, I do want to use this opportunity to caution people against using DTV visa services, where agents will provide "all the papers you need" for a fee. I have seen many ads like this around FB and telegram groups.

One person next to me in the imm. office was issued a DTV visa with what they suspect to be fake papers and according to the immigration officer they will contact the embassy of that individual and notify them that the visa has been cancelled. I don't know what happened to that person after that, but it doesn't sound like you get a chance to just buy a ticket to KL and leave.

Please use common sense when deciding to apply for the DTV visa and treat it like you are applying for a visa in any other European or western country. If you applied for a DTV visa with a 2 week cooking course and are re-entering after 6 months, expect some questions. If you have used dodgy or even fake employment or course papers to apply for a DTV, then good luck to you.

Hope this info helps. Happy to answer any questions on my experience if I forget to mention something in the post.

Those who left and came back:

Did they ask you again for proof of money in the bank?

When I did my visa i read on many places that if you leave from the country they might ask you to show again that you have money in the bank.

I don’t remember how much was it but I believe it was around $15k

Do they actually do this? Or they just let you in?

Thank you for your responses!

Just wanted to contribute to experiences.

We flew to Spain for 10 days a couple weeks before our 180 day mark for our DTV’s. Flew back into Thailand via Bangkok. Immigration officer was nice. Had no questions. Looked at our visas. Stamped our passports and sent us on our way ❤️

Just re-entered after staying 6 months on my DTV. Spent 3 nights in Da Nang Vietnam and flew back into BKK.

A British guy infront of me got questioned and taken away for interrogation I assume. She saw my visa and said "ah you have DTV". Stamped me in for 6 months no questions asked.

I am in the middle of my first 180 days on my DTV visa. As I will be in Ranong area in the next month, I am thinking about going over the border at Ranong/Kawthaung and getting stamped in again. I know tourists are border-bouncing and getting visa-exempt entries at that border. I'm not sure if a DTV entry (with 180 day stamp) is also possible at Kawthaung: does anyone have experience with this?

I am in 60 day visa exempt. How many times can I leave for a couple days and come back? How many days do I get on return?

Hello. I wonder what happens when you leave Thailand after 6 months and then return. Has anyone with a Muay Thai visa ever been asked to show proof of their next 6 months of gym sessions upon re-entry? It’s hard to believe that you can get a 5-year visa with just one application and that immigration wouldn’t ask for proof every time you return.

Question about leaving & entering with the DTV. I currently have the DTV for soft power (Muay Thai) and received it a few weeks back and I’m in thailand now.

I’m going on holiday to Vietnam next week and do I need to show them the actual pdf of the visa when leaving and re entering or is the stamp on my passport good enough?

Anyone that has left and re entered using the DTV please let me know your experience.

Thank you 🙏
