Can my family, under a DTV visa, re-enter Thailand without me?

QUESTION:

My wife, son and I are on a DTV visa.

I’ve been offered a job that requires me to work several months, sometimes more then 6 months overseas.

My wife and son are planning to stay in Thailand but when the 180 days approach, they will obviously need to leave and re-enter again but since they are dependent on me, would that be a problem?

Has anyone have experience with this, where the Main Visa Holder(like myself) is not physically with their family members when re-entering Thailand?
Answer summary
The question raises concerns about a family on a Thai DTV visa, where the main visa holder will be overseas for work while the family remains in Thailand. Community responses clarify that the dependents do not need the primary visa holder present to re-enter Thailand. They can travel independently and have the option to extend their stay at immigration, but they may need relevant documents from the main visa holder for any extensions. Overall, the general sentiment in the community is that it is manageable for the family to stay in Thailand without the main visa holder present during their re-entry.

Yes theh can. And much easier to do a border run than try to extend at embassy, which I believe they would need you present for. Have them take a long weekend to another country for a mini vacation :)

I am a dependant on my husbands visa and have only entered independently with no issues.

Also they don’t need to leave and return, they can just go to immigration and extend. Prob cheaper and less hassle to do so, unless they actually want to explore another location.

wrong choice, they have no option to extend without the primary DTV holders updated documents

They can come and go as they please without your presence being required

Because their visas are independent travel documents, they do not need you to be physically present with them when crossing the Thai border.
