Can I leave Thailand on a METV and return for another 60 days?

couple of questions on the METV
from Uk.
Firstly can you just leave Thailand
On the 60 day and say go Vietnam
For 1 week and come back for
Another 60 days ?
Secondly how near to the end
Date of the visa can I come back
Into Thailand for another 60 days ?

An METV is valid for 6 months from the date it is issued. Every time you enter Thailand during those 6 months, you'll receive a 60 day tourist visa stamp. Even if you enter the last day the visa is valid.
