I’ve got a question🙋🏻‍♀️ since DTV is now applying online, if I go to Hong Kong and apply it online on the first day, then I go back to Thailand for say 7 days and I go back to Hong Kong on the 8th days and collect the visa (or it’s just by email??) and go back on the 9th? Or I can already get the visa approve online between the 2-8th days when I’m in Thailand ??

Success with Remote Work DTV in Ho Chi Minh in mid-Dec and Children's Dependent DTV in Jakarta the day after Christmas (WITH travel during process):

I can't say for sure the Thais don't allow you to travel during the application process (many other countries do), but I think the key thing is to NOT travel to Thailand, during the process and explain where you've been.

I applied in HCM with:

- work contract,

-payslips,

- savings bank statements,

- letter from employer confirming work and ability to work remotely.

*I used the SmallPDF app for converting, combining, editing, finishing docs (highly recommend!).*

Stayed a few days and then had to leave Vietnam. They came back asking for bank statements showing salary received highlighted. Took approx 3 working days for initial submission to be reviewed, not quite 2 working days to be approved after additional docs provided. (Note, sometimes the requests come later in the evening Thai time - 8pm and later - so do keep an eye on your inbox if you're in a rush.)

By this time, I was in Indonesia. I applied for the children's visas to the Jakarta embassy sending:

- my visa,

-same (combined) bank statements, payslips, etc,

- work contract,

- birth certificates

- a letter from the hotel confirming we were in Indonesia.

- *a personalised letter of support (from me to the children) - template from Gemini AI*

Took approx 4 days for initial review (not incl Christmas holiday). We left Indonesia for Singapore. They came back asking for entry stamps and visa docs. Indonesia had stamped out over the entry stamp. We got on the ferry to Batam, received new 7 day Visa on Arrival (half price).

Sent back photos of both entry and the one exit stamps, both visa slips, and ALL passport pages (for the children only).

I included a letter saying we were in Indonesia when we applied, but had to return to Singapore for the Christmas festivities, but that they were now in Indonesia again and that the children had NOT travelled to Thailand (evidenced by ALL passport pages).

They approved the next working day.

Note, the application did not ask for permission from the other parent (many countries do), which is not to say they can't when you travel.

Just got my DTV from the Thai embassy in Laos

Thanks to everyone in this group for their guidance and advice....

My process that I followed

Getting a Laos visa (as a UK passport holder) - USD 40 if you do VOA (visa on arrival)

Evisa option only available now as all bookings this month are full up

- 6 months bank statements showing THB 500k minimum (lucky I have a Thai bank account

but you can do with your home country bank statements showing the equivalent)

- Proof of residency (copy of lease agreement etc)

- photocopy of your passport BIO page

- photocopy of the Laos visa page (did not know this at the time..lucky photocopy place across the road)

- paperwork from the Muay Thai (fitfac) in Bangkok showing DTV approval

- proof of payment for the Muay Thai classes (photocopy needed)

- THB10000 in cash for the non refundable embassy charge.

Had appointment on the Thursday morning and picked up the visa on the Monday (13:30)

Now taking a bus (from app 12GO) from Vientiene to udon Thani (around thb200)

Feel free to ask any questions..but thanks again to the members of this group for their valuable contributions ...good luck to those going through the process

My DTV just approved in HCM. Thank god this is over. I can't be bothered to type the whole ordeal but in a nutshell I been living out of my backpack since 27th Nov bouncing around Asia losing money on cancelled flights, rescheduled flights. Yes, in part due to my own errors. I initially planned to apply at Vientiane but the website is a bit tricky. Slots seem available but when it comes to booking them they are actually unavailable when you try to click them.

SUMMARY

Been living in Thailand 14 years on mix of working holiday visa, work visas, marriage visas, tourist visas. Previously to the DTV was NON-B.

Applied Savannakhet (Muay Thai) with correct documents - DENIED FOR NO REASON

Applied HCMC with EXACTLY THE SAME DOCUMENTS - Approved in 3.5 business days. No requests for further documentation.

I submitted 2 foriegn bank statements totalling $500,000+ AUD. Seasoned well over 6 months.

Selected unemployed with $0 income.

Permanent address of family place in Australia which matches with my driving licence.

Current address - Hotel booking HCM.

Thai phone number.

Thai address on bank statement.

Thai billing address on payment card. (debated as possible reason for payment issues).

Current location document: Entry stamp to HCM and hotel booking. Not all pages.

MUAY THAI DOCUMENTS FROM PHUKET:

Acceptance letter in Thai and english addressed to HCM specifically.

Receipt

Copy of gyms certification card from "BOARD OF BOXING SPORT"

Copy of owners id card

Business licence and DBD document - This has a different company name to the gyms name. That was Savannakhets stated reason for refusal. IT'S NORMAL.

Screenshots of gyms google, IG, FB and website for good measure.

Done

A FEW SMALL NOTES:

- AIS roaming in Laos doesn't work - Don't bother with it.

- Loca is the local rideshare app and works great in Vientiane. In Savannakhet no Loca but Xahn instead.

- Common Grounds cafe is a good base in Vientiane with wifi, food and aircon while you are room-less.

- Laos evisa 5 business days - They respond to emails during this time. "Sorry mister".

- Vietnam evisa - Mine took 6 days. They do not respond to emails.

- Entry to Saigon. Expect upto 2hrs in immigration line. Use Grab or Hotel transfers from the airport. Grab still running scams but much less so.

- Thai evisa website. You can upload only 1 file for each category a maximum of 3mb each.

- Yes I also had payment issues - Solved by using a different authorisation method.

- AIS roaming works fine in Vietnam most of the time.

I joined FB just for this group. I will delete this account in a day or so but the post should remain to benefit others.

Thank you to the posters in the group

I’d like to apply for my DTV in Ho Chi Minh. I live in Vietnam and am legally registered here, so I would have to apply in HCM anyway. Will I be able to apply for the visa online, or do I need to apply in person?

Is there anything specific that the HCM visa center might require? I know some visa centers ask for additional paperwork sometimes. I’m a freelancer, so I’m a bit limited on financial documents. Also, do I need to show a balance of $15,000 over a 6-month period, or just at the time of applying?

Does anyone have experience with spouses of DTV holders applying for a DTV? Is there anything special that needs to be provided?
