Okay question: If in Ho Chi Minh to do the DTV, would it be better to do the application online through Thai e-visa website or go to immigration in person? Please don't suggest an agency.
Hello, I’ve just been approved for the Thai DTV visa today. I really appreciate all the help from this community—I’ll share my experience below.
Before that, I have a quick question:
Is there any time limit for entering Thailand after the visa is approved? I’m not planning to go immediately—I’ll likely stay in Vietnam for about a month before entering Thailand. Would that be okay?
Also, is there anything I should prepare before entering? I’m a bit concerned about the immigration check at the airport, even after getting the visa.
Thank you very much!
My Experience : Thailand DTV Visa Approval (Self-Application, No Agency)
I recently got my DTV visa approved in Hanoi, and since I applied without using an agency, I wanted to share my experience in case it helps others. (Submitted on April 3, additional documents requested on April 7, approved on April 9)
1. 💰 Bank Balance Proof (Minimum 500,000 THB)
I cannot generalize the embassy’s exact standards, but in my case:
* I submitted bank statements (in English, PDF) for the past 4 months (Dec 2025–Mar 2026)
* Each statement showed the ending balance of the month
* The balance was consistently above 500,000 THB
* There were no large fluctuations, and the funds were relatively stable
2. 💻 Freelance / Portfolio Proof
As a freelancer without a formal employer, proving my work was crucial.
I submitted:
* A description of the platform(s) I work on
* Freelance contract(s)
* Income verification documents
* Records of payments via PayPal, Payoneer, Wise, etc.
* Screenshots covering the past 6 months
Additionally, I included:
* A written explanation of why I am applying for the DTV visa (reason for staying in Thailand)
* A description of my job
* Links to my YouTube channel or other relevant online presence
3. 📄 Additional Request: Business Registration
* 3 days after submission, I was asked to provide business registration
* Since I don’t belong to a company, I submitted:
* A screenshot of the platform’s business registration number (found online, official government website)
* A screenshot of the website footer showing company info
* A screenshot of the platform introduction/about page
* After submitting these, I received final approval within 2 days
4. ✈️ Proof of Current Location
I submitted:
* A full screenshot of my passport page with the Vietnam entry stamp
* My flight booking details / mobile boarding pass
Hi everyone, I’m feeling stressed and a bit confused, so I wanted to ask for some advice.
I recently applied through an agent, (recommended by a friend) for the DTV.
Before paying they said absolutely all the procedure and payments were online transactions.
Once I paid them and the 6 months cooking school, they said I should pay the embassy fee in person.
This was initially something I asked and they said very clearly that was no need to visit the embassy.
Im in India and should take a flight to reach Mumbai.
I paid my monthly rent where I live and though they only spoke about just paying in person, now they suggested me to stay for a couple of weeks in Mumbai till the procedure is finish.
I tried to call Mumbai embassy and the number I can find online doesn’t exist.
The agents can not provide a proper number.
They also mentioned about a case of someone who was granted a 6 months visa at this consulate instead of 5 years, after paying a 6 months soft power. So they encouraged me to pay one year soft power.
I didn’t…
Did anyone have a similar experience? How is about the embassy payments?
Does anyone have a contact of Thai Mumbai consulate?
I would really appreciate your comments .
*half an hour ago the agent said that they will refund their fee.
He didn’t mention about the soft power payment I made.
However, being in India and having to start again, what do you suggest me?
Do I need the soft power if I do it myself and should I travel to Thailand and then leave to Vietnam or Laos to go on with the process? How many days can take?
I'm looking at getting the Thai DTV and have some questions about the information that must be provided. Also, I'm not sure if my situation is a bit complicated so I'll detail it here as best I can.
I currently have a remote job and I have everything required to apply for the DTV as a digital nomad at the moment (a job contract and the equivalent of 500k baht). However, I keep reading that I will need to provide 3-6 months worth of bank statements with the application, which I can do. However, I haven't had the equivalent of 500k baht in my bank account prior to this month and only met this financial target at the end of February. Do applicants need to have held this amount for at least 3-6 months before applying, or do you just need to show that you have it at the time of application?
I'm also reading that different embassies are selective about this, and the information I'm getting online is very varied. I'm currently in SEA at the moment (Malaysia right now and I will likely go to Vietnam next).
Knowing this is important because I am in the midst of wanting to leave my job and start my own business, which I'm in the process of currently. I know I can also apply for the DTV with a registered business, which I'm hoping I'd be able to do later this year if I don't do it while still holding my current job. I suppose I figured that while I do still have my job, it'd be good to get the visa before I make the transition (since I currently do have a valid employment contract). It isn't my plan to stay in the job for another 3-6 months, as I am already speaking with potential clients.
Basically what I want to know is do I need to wait until I've held 500k baht in my account for at least 3-6 months, or would I be able to apply sooner? Also, I'm from Canada (if anyone is wondering about my nationality).
Hi! I'm applying for a DTV (🇵🇭 passport holder ) at the Thai Embassy in Manila 🇵🇭 under the Medical Treatment (Soft Power) category. 🦷
I have the following ready:
Financials: ₱1M (approx. 600k THB) maintained in my personal bank account for exactly 3 months. 💰
Medical: A solid 1.5-year Dental Treatment Plan and Appointment Letter from a well-known, licensed dental clinic in Bangkok. 🇹🇭
Questions are;
-Do I still need a Sponsor Letter if I already have the 500k THB in my own name for 3 months?
-Is it okay if I don't have 'Proof of Income' or 'Employment' since I am applying via the Medical route and not the Digital Nomad/Remote Work route?
Has anyone here been approved via the Dental Route in Manila? I’ve heard mixed things, Would love to hear some success stories for assurance! Thank you! 🙏
Can we settle this once and for all.. when re-entering Thailand with DTV…
(Entering after your soft power activity has ended) what is the best thing to say to IO as to why you’re coming back into the country (if you’re coming back to live off savings)? Option A - I’ll be on vacation …or option B - I plan to find another course to enroll on
