I’m planning to apply for the new Destination Thailand Visa (DTV). I qualify on the financial side since I have over $50,000 in liquid funds, and I can also provide my current employment proof at the time of application.
My question is:
👉 If I resign from my job after getting the DTV, will this cause any issue when I try to re-enter Thailand on the same visa? Does immigration actually check employment status at re-entry, or is showing funds enough?
Has anyone here faced or heard about this situation? Would really appreciate your guidance 🙏
Got approved for Muay Thai visa today, same day after the interview for 5 years. I used an agency which helped get all the documents in order before everything was submitted, IMO, this makes it worth the cost. They also have a service that can do the 90 day report for a small fee.
Short story though: about a month ago, I attempted to return to Thailand on a visa exempt status after my ED visa expired, I got grilled at the BKK border and was denied entry. I don't believe i was given a fair chance to demonstrate my Thai knowledge, the officers were quite hostile which totally threw me off and I hesitated having a conversation with them in Thai. They asked maybe 2 questions at most and spoke at a native level, didnt ask to see if I could read or write Thai - the experience afterwards was fking awful. Anyone that has been through this will know 😂... surprisingly very few first hand accounts of others experiences i can find online, but you literally get treated like a criminal.
Anyway, just curious if anyone has had an extended stay in thailand and now obtained the DTV. Will they ask to see a departure flight? Got the feeling if I fly back into BKK, they will try to give me a hard time for the most idiotic reasons even though I have a legit visa.
As an Australian Citizen I receive 60 days visa free on arrival at BKK. I can then extend for 30 days at Immigration. If I then depart BKK and fly return to Vientiane, Laos VTE OR Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia KUL for a few days.... can I then get another 60 days visa free on arrival back in BKK? Also, can I then apply at immigration for a 30 day extension at Immigration? The total period is approximately six months with a few days exit in the middle.
Hello I want to know something about my DTV, I been staying with DTV for almost a month (20 days) now I have to go back home for personal reasons. So when I come back to Thailand, will the immigration reset previous one and give new 180 days?
Recently came back on my DTV at BKK airport. No issues, I gave my DTV paper to the immigration officer, no questions nothing asked. Stamped back in for 6 months!
Has anyone heard or DTV holders being interrogated upon re entry at Suvarnabhumi international airport, being asked to show 20k baht in cash, etc., or all smooth reentry stories? It will be my fourth entry on DTV and I know visa waiver folks are getting a lot of trouble with repeat entries - haven't heard stories like that of DTV holders yet, but wondering if anyone has. Thanks :)
Hi guys. I am a Brit with a British passport. I successfully obtained the DTV via the London embassy last year, and then entered Thailand shortly after, getting the 180 day stamp at BKK, as expected. I stayed for 3 months then exited the country. All good.
I was issued the DTV as I was directly employed by a UK company that permitted me to work internationally remote. I provided a copy of my full employment contract and a brief cover letter from my boss.
But, I'm no longer employed by said company. I'm unemployed. But I am in sound financial standing and am considering returning to Thailand soon.
Obviously I still have the DTV as it's valid for 5 years.
Am I 'safe' to enter, even tho I'm no longer employed?
I know they ask for all the docs again when extending, but does anyone who's re-entered on the DTV lately know if they're asking for anything at immigration?
I am super conscious of not breaking any laws/rules. I always wondered how they would know someone reentering on the DTV is still eligible under the original conditions in which they applied. 5 years is a long time and inevitably circumstances change.
I want to share my experience about re-entering Thailand with a DTV visa.
I am Taiwanese and hold a Taiwanese passport. Recently, I’ve seen some posts expressing concerns about re-entering Thailand. I have entered Thailand 4 times with DTV through BKK without any issues.
My DTV route is Soft Power(Muay Thai).
I just want to say that if you applied by yourself or through an agency with correct and truthful information, you should have no problems re-entering Thailand every time.
Why have I re-entered so many times? Because I love traveling. But Thailand is my favorite country.🇹🇭
