Big thanks to everyone who answered my questions and shared their experiences — your advice really helped!

For anyone curious about the process:

I submitted my documents on August 20, and on August 21 they asked me to provide recommendation letters and my portfolio. I sent everything in, and just 15 minutes later I got an invitation for an interview scheduled on August 27.

The interview itself lasted maybe five minutes and had a super relaxed, friendly vibe more like chatting with a friend. They only asked me to show proof of funds at the bank and my portfolio on my phone.

Just two hours after the interview, I got the notification that my visa had been approved. The whole process took exactly 7 days from submission to final approval.

Once again, huge thanks to everyone for your help and support! 🙌

Hey, has anyone applied for a DTV via the UK Thai Embassy as a non-UK citizen/resident and been approved? I already have a DTV but my girlfriend (from South Korea) is visiting the UK with me now, and I wasn't sure if she'd be able to apply for a DTV here instead of doing it in Vietnam like the majority of people do.

I had heard that some people applying in Western countries were being denied if they were not from that respective country? Any insights or experiences people have with the UK Thai Embassy for their DTV application as a non-UK citizen would be appreciated.

Thanks.

My wife and are thinking about getting a DTV but when we were last in Thailand about 3 years, we overstayed our Visa because of a flight issue and had to pay an exit fine. I believe we overstayed by one day, maybe two, beyond the grace period.

I assume it's just harder, and depends on the embassy what the result is in trying to get a DTV. That said, any insight would be helpful!

Also, would it matter if we had new Passports or is the overstay info kept in the Thai computer system?

I applied for my visa at the embassy in Cambodia on August 11th. I'm unsure the turnaround time on applications being processed, but I know some individuals that are still waiting and applied earlier than me.

Of course, the ongoing conflict is likely affecting the time for processing, but when I initially applied, I was told they were open.

I'd rather get my application processed sooner than later, so I'm debating on cancelling it and applying at Jakarta instead.

My concerns:

1. What if it took one more day and they finally decided to review it.

2. What if it takes a long time for them to cancel it.

3. Am I able to have two active DTV applications at once?

I don't really care about the fee, just speed.

ORIGINAL POSTER
Just tried to extend my DTV at Krabi immigration office. Not good.

The officer wanted basically a repeat of all the documents submitted for the original visa but updated. And he wanted a picture of me at the house I rent, a printout of a map of where my house is, a signed letter from my landlord with a copy of landlord ID etc.

I said it would be easier for me to fly to KL and come back. He agreed.

Fortunately I have plenty of time and a favorite Indian restaurant in KL.

Hi everyone!

Maybe some of you had the same experience:

1. I have 2 passports. Number one is going to expire in 4,5 years. Number two is for 10 years and absolutely new without any visas and stamps.

Can I use the new one, but provide stamp that I'm in Vietnam from the old one?

2. I had student visa which wasn't closed properly. It just expired and I did border run, so no re entries. Would it be a problem?

- Free visa ending on 19th of September

- 500k+ in my Kasikorn bank account deposited in the next few days (no 3 month record)

- been freelancing here and there and have some incomes from payment gateways from my country and also international Stripe & Whop

- had ED visa before and multiple tourist visas

- currently in Bangkok

- short personal letter

- no current work or income

What’s my best option? And which consulate?

1. Applying by myself to a Workation freelance DTV right now with what i have

2. Applying by myself with a muay thai gym package and invitation letter

3. Waiting 3 months with the money in the bank and then applying

4. Using an agency to help me apply to either Workation or Soft power

5. Applying for a 1 year work permit visa instead of DTV

Thank you for your help and comments.

Approved in one day by the London embassy.

Applied Friday late afternoon.

Additional documents requested.

Sent those half an hour later.

Approval email came through Tuesday evening.

Long and short of it: Applied for the workacation category. Had the 500k thb spread across different accounts so sent bank statements from the past few months for current, biz and ISA. Sent a random selection of invoices from the past few years to show business viability. Wrote a quick letter saying I authorise myself to work remotely. Sent first page of incorporation documents and tax doc (just a letter saying it’s time to file). Sent drivers license and internet bill with address.

Additional documents requested were a formal letter addressed to the embassy introducing myself and my work, and stating I won’t be concerned with Thai laws or work with Thai clients. Also requested full company incorporation documents stating my name and position.

Prepared a formal letter and downloaded my incorporation documents direct from the public register. There was the option to order a certified copy of these but I just downloaded the pdf and sent that.

Approved.

Hi Guy's, hope you are all having an awesome day.

My question is about the 90 day check in, I need to do my first one in the next few days. My condo lease just ended so I'm currently looking for another one at the moment. Do I need a tm30 for the check in?
