Just wanted to share my experience on arriving with my Destination Thailand visa from Munich embassy quickly. After being pulled out for questioning the last few times, entering with a tourist visa, this time everything went smooth, no questions asked. Glad Thailand finally has a real digital "nomad" visa.

Does the evisa shows the date of issue? I saw online that some people couldn't get their visa on time and only got approved while in Thailand and then just exited the country and re-entered to activate their visa. Won't the immigration officer check the date of issue? Anyone went through this process ?

Went through immigration at BKK today. I was just recently approved for a DTV, but I’m leaving in a couple of weeks for a work thing so figured I’d just stamp in under the usual visa waiver/exemption. When the IO scanned my passport the DTV popped up in the system and she asked to see the printout (I had several copies prepared fortunately - thanks guys). She then apologized because it was her first time dealing with a DTV, so she had to get a manager to come over and walk her through the validation process. No biggy, just sharing so other DTV holders aren’t surprised.

Just another anecdote about how it's a lottery what the agent attitude is when entering the country. Came in from a week in Malaysia (side note Kota Kinabalu is garbage). It is my second entry this year. Both by air. I was in line 5. Line 4 processed about 3x the people (god I hate picking the wrong line!) I got to the sour face dirty look monster, gave my passport and itinerary, she motioned to put my hand on the thing then turned up the volume on her scowl. Asked how long I would stay. I said 30 days. More frowning. She called over a guy in a uniform.

What she didn't know is my Thai partner had already gone through and was standing behind her. She did not hear what the lady said, but the man she called over said "it's no problem" I asked "did I do wrong?" She said "you stay too long" she turned to the officer next to her more angry hissing then "it's no problem" then she gave me my stamp and almost shouted "don't stay so long next time!"

Did not ask why I stay, did not have any interest in anything, did not ask about forward ticket or lodging. Just was slow for everyone in her line and then nasty. I am sure karma will find her. Or maybe I kicked a puppy and she was karma coming back to me.

I arrived sandbox last night. Thai embassy Canberra made it clear I did not need return flight for coe. The counter staff at Singapore Airlines in Adelaide said that according to home affairs one was required. It did not stop me boarding and they said if thai immigration wanted a return flight just book a cheap one to Singapore. Air Asia has the for $150. But I held my nerve and got through without it.
