Hello, I applied for Non-O visa in USA but it was not approved until 1 day after I arrived. I know I need to re-enter country to activate the visa but I would like to open a bank account first to start the aging of 800k deposit. Any chance of opening a bank account in Chiang Mai without visa? I have copy of approved visa, thai phone number, and residency certificate. Anyone know of a bank which would allow me to open account? Thank you
I want to apply for a Non-O visa to visit my family in Thailand. I'm in Vietnam, Hanoi. I have a son and a partner there, and we are not married. From what I understand, I should choose the Non-Immigrant Visa (O).
The required documents are:
1. Biodata page of passport – the first page of my passport with my personal details. OK.
2. A photo not older than 6 months – OK.
3. Document indicating current location – I don’t really understand this. Should it be a photo of my passport with the entry stamp? Or a document from the owner of the room I’m renting?
4. Financial evidence – I have an account in a Thai bank with the required amount, but is a printed statement enough? Since I’m abroad, I can’t obtain an original bank statement with their stamp.
5. Personal details of family in Thailand – I have photos of my partner’s ID, but my son doesn’t have any documents yet. What should I provide yet? Maybe invitation letter from my partner?
6. Proof of relationship – I have a photo of my son’s birth certificate. Is it enough?
Do I need anything else?
The points above come from the official eVisa website.
However! On the website of the Thai Embassy in Hanoi there are additional requirements! Check this out
1. Copy of the Thai child’s birth certificate AND a copy of their passport or ID…
But my son doesn’t have any of that.
2. Copy of the Thai house registration book, certified true copy, signed and dated.
Last week I was refused entry to Thailand at DMK airport because I had stayed too long continuously in 2025 and exceeded the two visa-exempt entries allowed. Altogether in 2025 I spent 10 months in Thailand. I entered twice on a visa exemption, which I extended at immigration, and as the father of a Thai child I’m eligible for a 60-day extension instead of the usual 30 days. Adding January and February from my previous entry, it came to 10 months in total. Unfortunately, this time I arrived during a strict period and was treated quite harshly. I understand it, I don’t hold a grudge, even though in 2024 it wasn’t a problem to stay in Thailand the whole year on exemptions.
After I was refused entry, I flew back to Hanoi and applied for a tourist visa through the e-visa system. It seems to be the appropriate visa to visit my family in Thailand, which is also the reason you select in the second step of the application. Unfortunately, my application was rejected after one day. It looked like an automatic rejection and I’m not sure why. Is there any way to find out?
I would now like to apply for a Non-O visa, but I’m afraid of another rejection, even though I have all the required documents. Maybe someone could help me with this? Thank you all for the kind comments on my previous post 🙏❤️
Hi I usually come to Thailand mid February for 3 months on the 60 day entry I get another 30 day extension so i usually stay 87 days in the year I’ve got no over stays on this, will booking my flight on those dates give me a problem at immigration ?
I have a question concerning the new rules with visa exempt and visa extension.
If I understand well we can technically obtain 2 visa exempt in a calendar year and for the first exempt a 30 days extension and for the second visa exempt a possible 7 days extension.
Now, if I arrived in october 17 and got a 30 days visa extension until january 14:
1- if I go for a border run I should have an other visa exempt;
2- for the visa extension will I have only a possible 7 days extension or because I will be in a new calendar year I would be able to get a 30 days extension.
Also I'm flying back in Canada on april 15 which gave me a 6 months trip.
If I can't get an other 30 days extension I will simply spend a month or in Laos or in Malaysia and come back for the 2 last months of my 6 months trip in Thailand.
I'm 71 years old and spending 6 months a year out of Canada is good enough for me.
And yes next time I will probably apply for a MEV (multi entry visa).
Thanks to all and please if you got nothing positive or usefull about my case I just rather hear nothing from you.
Thanks again!
Update: OK group. I got it. No need for more comments on this one. THANK YOU ALL for your comments and help.
Do the consular officers at Thai embassies in the U.S. tend to overlook simple alcohol related misdemeanors (e.g DUI, Public Intox) for Non-O 90-day (retirement) with complete documentation and more than sufficient financial standing/funds?
