Hello!

I’m from the UK and wanting to apply for a DTV at the beginning of 2026. I’ve been doing lots of research online but figured it’s best to ask people who have experienced the application process themselves so I’m 100% sure on what to do.

The DTV stands for 5 years, whilst living in Thailand, do you have to visit the embassy every 6 months or do you have to leave the country every 6 months and then re-enter? Can you also be denied re-entry at any time?

I know you need 500K THB when applying, do you need to keep this balance in your account at all times so they can check you still have this much money when you get re-checked every 6 months?

Any answers/advice to the above questions would be super helpful, thank you so much in advance😊

Also, feel free to DM me, I’m up to have conversations with people about their DTV experience!

I arrived in Thailand on the 29th of November with my Non O visa planning to retire. TM30 sorted at local immigration then on to Kasikorn bank to open an account. Even though I had all the correct documents and my Thai girlfriend with me to translate I was refused. They said I needed a yellow house book. We went to the local government office to ask and were told it would take 6 months. Impossible as I only have 90 days to get this sorted. On to another branch, no success again. OK let's try Krungtai , 45 minutes queueing before being told no again.

What do I have to do to open an account here?

I tried the above banks because they have good reputations and I am avoiding Bangkok bank.

Should I keep trying different branches of the big 2 or are there other options? I'm in Bueng kan province on the border with Laos. I would appreciate any input.

Hello,

Has any of you recently applied (in-country) non-o extension using Bangkok Bank account? One of the agents told me last week that Immigration officer would not approve the application if your funds were with Bangkok Bank. Not sure whether true or not! Please share your experience. Thank you!

I have a Thai daughter and I plan on applying for the 1 year Non O visa next year. Does the 400,000 baht need to be in a Thai bank account or can it be a US bank account or Wise?? Also how am I supposed to get a Thai bank account if I don’t have the visa yet? Has anyone tried opening the bank account with just a birth certificate of their child? I’m getting mixed info on the internet so I just need more clarification. Thank you!

Hi. I need to do DTV 90day report beginning of January for me, my husband and two babies. We are staying near central world in Bangkok. I was told by an agent that it takes about 2-4 hours depending on how many people are there. The address I was given is like 55 minutes from where I stay by car. I was also told my husband and I have to go but two babies don’t have to we just need to explain why they aren’t there. Can anyone help confirm if any of this is true or false info. I would prefer to leave my babies at home if it’s possible. Or is there an agent who can go and do it for my family?

Has anyone experienced having their bank account transfered an amount that completes the required 12kUSD less than 3 months before applying? Any issues? (thinking on applying from Vietnam or HK)
