pretty accurate description.. also very accepted in the culture of The Kingdom is what is known as GIK, Thai phrase meaning (friends with benefits). I have had this situation for 2+ years now. She is more than just my “ holiday GF”, as we have chosen to stay ONLY with each other… yes… even when I am not in Thailand. I chimed in here not to hear comments about my situation, but to add to this discussion in general. 🙏

I visit Thailand about every 7 months since late 2022. Trip #6 coming in July. I usually only stay just under 3 weeks. Last visit the Immigration Officer did ask me why I come to Thailand “so much”.. I told him the truth (girlfriend and possible business development) and did show off some of my Thai language skills.. and he stamped and said “no problem with entry.” I wonder if the way I visit would ever cause an issue. Of course one day (Sak wan) I will semi- retire in The Kingdom.

Reading the comments this post generated is truly incredible. It is a shame that these kinds of questions (almost) always deteriorate into what we call a “pissing contest”, but that is the nature of the FB beast. There are some very legit answers though clearly generated from people of knowledge. The trick for the OP is to find those bits of wisdom to help with your dilemna. I guess this original post falls under the “- And Everything Else” category of this informative page, so I felt compelled to chime in. As a frequent traveler to The Kingdom, I would simply remind

that a opening a coffee shop, no matter what unique drink(s) are offered, is by far an over- saturated market, albeit many are successful, while many more are abandoned soon after opening. Here is an interesting factoid I searched for you Khun Bo Hess. —-> “World Coffee Portal's Project Café East Asia 2024 report found that the total branded Thai coffee shop market comprises more than 8,350 outlets – making it the third largest market in East Asia. Café Amazon, owned by oil and retail giant PTTOR, operates over 4,000 stores in the country.Apr 19, 2024.”

I would use a private driver for that trip .. is it from Suvarnabhumi? It is a couple hours + drive from there. I have a driver I have used for more than 2 years .. send me a dm if you want to meet him.

Once a group .. almost any group on FB gets very large, this is to be expected sadly. Keep in mind - there are actually more and perhaps better sources of information readily available for your informational needs on line. Jai yen yen Krap. 🤨

not sure what you mean.. but I don’t expect to have those kinds of issues. I follow the letter of the law and respect The Kingdom’s 🇹🇭 laws and customs. I hope those detained are released soon. 🙏

thanks for the update — I average less than 2 times per year or about 7 - 8 months between visits .. trip #6 coming in July. So far one agent said to me,”You really like Thailand 🇹🇭! .. why do you come so often?” I can speak quite a bit of Thai now.. so he seemed satisfied with my “I have a GF, etc answer”. But I know better than to get overconfident! 🙏
