Hey all - wanted to say a big thanks to everyone in the group and contribute my part to this community with my experience 😀 Applied for the DTV in Hanoi under the workcation stream as a business owner. Approved in 5/6 business days, the 3rd was apparently a Thai holiday.
Timeline
- 01/03 flew to Hanoi from KL, application submitted and paid Sunday evening, a few hours after arriving
- 03/03 status changed to pending approval around 1800
- 09/03 received approval email at 1500
- 10/03 entered Thailand
Here are some insights from based on my own unique circumstances:
- I had the minimum 500k funds in my account for 2 weeks but I have business revenue consistently remitted, 3-4 times a week, for entire 6 month statement period I submitted. The balance when I submitted around 750k but I don't think it matters too much at all.
- I'm running a sole trader business so the business bank account is just my personal account that I segregated for business purposes. Thus the statement shows my name as per passport.
- In the last 365 days, I had 4No. 30 day extensions and spent 300 days in TH on visa exempt. I have never overstayed or broken the rules but perhaps I abused the visa exempt, I'll admit that 😅😂 In terms of DTV approval, i think it's good evidence that your history shouldn't matter too much.
Upon arrival at CNX, the IO flicked through my passport didn't look amused. Was sent to the boss and then an interview. I filled out some paper work general questions similar to TDAC but also asked questions about income and savings etc. I asked if I would be questioned like this every time. They said no, and that the paper work was to activate the DTV upon first use (not sure how trust that is since some people just rolled through first time at BKK/DMK no issues). Anyway I was told that subsequent entries won't be an issue.
As for the specific docs. I just followed all the good advice that's been repeated in this group and tailored it to fit my own situation. If you have specific questions you can ask.
Thanks again to all the contributors in this group 🙏🙏
I will be flying to BKK with a lot of baggage so I'm looking for concierge/porter service to help, from BAGGAGE CLAIM AREA to hotel. Please recommend a company you have used
If you don't have a response specific to my request, don't bother cluttering this thread with advice on selling my stuff blah blah blah...I don't need or want it
I am staying in the Kingdom of Thailand. I have a retirement visa.
My mother is coming to visit me in February (she has a return ticket 58 days after arrival – she won't exceed the permitted 60 days).
During her visit, I wanted to go on a trip to Hong Kong with her. Then we'll return to Thailand for a few days, and I'd like to fly with her to Malaysia.
Is this permissible? I mean, after her first arrival in Thailand, she will have to cross the border (by air) twice.
Thank you very much for your reply, and best regards.
Hey. I’ve got a question. I’m going to Laos and I need to buy a visa. After that, about two weeks later, I want to cross into Thailand at the land border in Vientiane. From what I’ve read, Thailand has been refusing entry more often lately. My question is: if Thailand refuses to let me in, will I have to buy another Lao visa?
Can I get a multiple entry tourist visa for a 60 day visit in January and return in May. Then do the same in October and January ?I’ll be traveling to and fro from the UK. Can this be done each year? Looking at just under the 6 months in Thailand each year.
I received my Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) on 15 September 2025. I have a trip planned to Argentina on 20 November 2025, and after that, I’d like to fly to Thailand.
I have two questions:
1. I read somewhere that I need to enter Thailand within the first 3 months after visa issuance — is that true?
2. Is it required that my first entry into Thailand must be from the country where the visa was issued (Serbia), or can I travel from Argentina directly?
Would really appreciate any clarification from those with experience 🙏
I have put my intended date of arrival and departure on the application, it is now asking for my flight number, I am advised by this group previously not to book a flight until I get the DTV. What have people done previously??
