TLDR : Answer Summary
The interview with Mr. Naruchai Ninnad highlighted the simplicity and affordability of Thailand's long-term residency visas, making it an attractive option for expats. While many viewers praised the clarity of the information presented, some expressed skepticism about the host's credibility and previous experiences with him. A key takeaway from the video is that extensions for these visas will remain at the standard fee of 1,900 baht, reinforcing the recent changes that aim to streamline residency options in Thailand.

Wow might change from Retirement to this!

Ok. So I made an exception and had to watch that video. And I gotta give my props and admit that he made a good video this time. Most facts we knew and presented here many times already. What I took as new confirmation is that extensions will only be the regular 1,900 baht. I really feel for this guy, because he had to deal with many wrong opinions and misinformation, too, by people claiming plain wrong facts. Good job. ๐
agreed. The guy is very clear and itโs nice to have a little insight into what they are trying to accomplish. Itโs great for sure. And just made long and short term visits to Thailand that much easier for basically everyone.
Last remaining item I see is the same as you, what exactly will qualify for โsoft powerโ? If itโs sign up for a cooking class and get a 6 year visaโฆ. Itโs an amazing time to be in Thailand!
why would I be rude and dismissive to him? Stupid comment. I saw him walk past me in a mall, I caught up to shake his hand, I said "hello you're the famous guy from youtube" and he just said "yeh" and just walked off. If his channel is "retired working for you" you'd expect him to show at least a little courtesy to his viewers.
what I am missing in the video is a statement, if it's possible to get a last 180-days stay permit when doing an entry on the last day of the visa validity. Plus a 180-days extension on top of that. It would mean a theoretical 6-year stay in Thailand. However I guess it needn't get confirmed separately, because this is valid for EVERY kind of multi entry visa category
some of the wording in the law made me wonder if your entry stamp can actually go past the expiration date of the visa. But it might have just been the translation or a quirk of legalese
he confirms it is unlimited 180 days per entry for 5 years with the possibility to extend each entry for another 180 days for 1900 baht. Upon re-entry there are no fees or requirements to show any supporting documents (just the DTV visa emailed when approved). Supporting documents are required for extensions though.
Any mention of what qualifies under the Thai Soft Power category and what doesnโt? Will a days cooking class really enable people to obtain a 5 year visa? Did he ask any of those open essential questions or did he just have reconfirmed the facts?
however, the crucial point is, those schools and seminars need to be "government licensed". So in case of a random school or seminar, embassies will direct applicants to a Non-Imm-ED visa
Yes. I heard that, too. Hopefully that will prevent fake schools from popping up. Still wired that with a short term course one will seemingly get a 5 year visa.
correct, nothing really new. However now this is a PROOF from an official source that we interpreted the DTV correctly. He went to the SOURCE of all Thai government ministries handling visa-related matter: He interviewed the deputy minister of Thailand's "MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS". Who is the "Mother of All Reliable Sources"

Nongnuch Kamdee The PROOF was in the infographic issued by the MFA days ago ๐
Over my years in Thailand I learned to trust as proof only what ends up being published as law in the Royal Gazette. Everything else I take with a goon grain of salt - no matter what uniform or politician says something. But good to know we have our known facts confirmed once again. ๐

This video has useful and clear information. Well done to Chris Parker and Naruchai Ninnand ๐๐ผ

What a fantastic video. Well explained. This is now one of the worlds easiest access, least confusing, lowest cost long term residency visas for any age.
What we finally got here was a govt official confirming the obvious fact questions that needed to be confirmed. Which is great. As they had not done so until this. I like facts a LOT better than rumour.
Now, what they really should is strongly marketing the best and easiest residency visa out there.
Which is what I said all along, as it was based on the actual communication from the MFA which so many people tried to interpret a different way. I said this visa is a game-changer, which it is, as it is by far the best visa available. It is the new defacto retirement visa, which pays for itself for regular travellers
it's such an enormous departure of history for Thai govt, that it is indeed, as you and many said, 'too good to be true'. U are right, it is indeed an absolute, instantaneous game changer for anyone under 50 and possible for some over 50 also. It's a 6 year residency visa for 11,900 baht with minimal qualifications. Amazing
Just as I tried to tell you a few days ago and you spouted the insults telling me that extensions would cost 10,000 baht every six months. Never mind. Your LTR visa now looks like crap.
Iโm happy you are right Andy. And if you still donโt understand the differences with LTR, I canโt help you lol. LTR is the easy winner.
DTV should work just fine for guys like you that wonโt qualify for LTR. Hell if I had been like you guys going to the bank and then immigration every year for all these years, I would be unhappy too.
I will even get DYV for my gf. Saves us some headaches for sure. And as you have said , itโs ridiculously cheap. 10k only and perhaps 11,900 for a six years residency visa. Whatโs not to love
I easily qualify for LTR, but why pay 50,000 instead of 10,000? That part doesn't add up. Paying 50,000 to avoid visiting immigration once a year also doesn't add up. I guess I've got better things to do with my money than throw it at Thai immigration. To each their own
If you qualified, you would already have it like everyone else. It's been around for 2 years now. You didn't notice? Why pay 50k for 10 years instead of 20K? Again, if you can't figure this out, i'm not here to save you. You have been shown the clear advantages. And clearly you make so little that the tax exemption isn't a factor for you. But nobody who qualifies for LTR will even be looking at the vastly inferior product that DTV is. I think DTV is absolutely fantastic. And for some people under 50, the ease of qualification for DTV may lead them to choose DTV. My gf will have DTV soon. Great stuff overall. Get your DTV, it's a vast improvement on the way you have been doing visas here so far.
I didn't get it when it came out, because like most smart Australians I was going for the 5+5 OX visa, which again trumps the LTR, on my next trip home. However, the DTV has altered my game plan. The taxation benefits are of no value to me (and I daresay many other retirees) as the only money I bring in is pension or superannuation money, which is non-taxable in Thailand. I have zero interest in investing in Thailand.
and yet, you somehow failed at getting O-X alsoโฆ.
Interesting.
The taxation benefits are obviously critical to anyone who actually makes money on earth. So of no concern to you as a pensioner. I have no idea why you are yanking yourself over saving maybe 30k baht over a decade and giving up the perks in exchange for trips to immigration. Itโs beer money at best. If you never do a renewal over the next decade (1900 baht), you will save 30k baht over LTR. Over a ten year period lol.
Who cares? And by the sounds of things, you donโt have the resources to invest in Thailand anyway mate. Just enjoy the DTV.
You've little idea and still insist on throwing out insults. Can't you ever grow up? I didn't get the OX because I haven't been back to Australia recently. I make stacks of money worldwide, but don't import it into Thailand, so I don't pay tax in Thailand, and hence don't require tax-free status in Thailand. Why would anyone invest in Thailand with better opportunities in many other countries? I imagine Canada doesn't offer the same benefits as Australia when it comes to Superannuation investment, and property investment negative gearing and sharemarket dividend imputation, so you don't have those same opportunities. But unlike you, I'm not going to throw insults at you, you've chosen your way, I choose my way. There's dummies out there paying 20,25 thousand baht each year to visa agents, and believe they're getting a good deal! That's 250k over ten years. No thanks. I use my money wisely.
Again, the insults, when you know nothing about me. And obviously nothing about Australia! I'm not really retired as I have property investments in UK and Germany as well as Australia. (But, yeah, not Thailand ๐), so although I have a management team in each country I still like to stay hands-on. It seems you're trying to justify buying the LTR. I know from other forums there's a lot of very pissed-off LTR holders angry that a much cheaper alternative has now been presented. You're not angry, which is good for you, and great that you don't have to pay tax on your Thai investments, but I hope you can now understand that tax exemption for me in Thailand is worthless. I have triple-citizenship so I have to minimise my tax across the three countries of my investments. Australia's generous allowances for property investments means everything I own in Australia is negatively geared so I pay virtually zero tax there. I still fail to see how a global investor can get excited about tax-free status in Thailand.
you know guys who are pissed off over 30k diff on a 10 year visa. ๐๐๐๐๐ in exchange for tax free, no reporting and fasttrack lol. Cmon man. Ur just not being honest at all.
Justify it? Itโs the best visa Thailand has ever had. And easy/fast to qualify. And yes - I have no doubt that youโ fail to seeโ how a global investor enjoys tax free. Thatโs why you are here on a lousy visa making a go of it for 80k/month. As you say- to each his own
Yep I know a few of them myself and take a look at some of the other Thailand groups. They are mightily pissed off. They are retirees so tax free makes zero difference. You seem to enjoy putting people down. You were stupid enough to pay over the top for a crap visa so you try to put others down. Very sad and insecure person. And I'm not "making a go" of anything. I spend 4-5 months of the year travelling around the world. The 80k is my "beer money" in Thailand. I'm just glad that my happiness in life is not based on not having to pay tax in Thailand! ๐๐๐๐
you know guys making a minimum of $3M baht per year who are โmightily pissed offโ about 30k baht for a far better 10 year visa lol??? Cmon Andy - you are either daft or a liar. Or both.
a pissantโฆ and you couldnโt even make that work ๐๐๐ A bit embarrassing mate. I can understand how annoying this must be for you after struggling along with retirement extensions every year. Waste of time . But itโs nice you are able to make a go of it here anyway. Itโs cheap. Good on ya
Yeah, just didn't want to get ripped off 50,000 baht like you were. This new visa has you triggered. A few days ago you were telling people it was going to cost 10,000 baht every six months. Got that wrong too didn't you? Bringing in 80k play money each month hardly struggling, but if it suits your agenda to insult people smarter than you, go for it - it makes you feel better ๐คก๐คก๐คก
lol. Iโm happy they made visa eligibility that even you and the average 22 year old YouTuber can qualify for. I understand why you are so thrilled! Imagine the nights you will spend planning what you can do with the 3000 baht per year you saved!!! You must be absolutely pumped for this beauty visa! You can upgrade from pad krapow to shrimp pad thai once a week! Or rent a newish scooter for a month ! ๐ต
Don't eat Thai food. I eat out at western restaurants and drink only imported beer. I'm not making the kind of money I am to live cheap like you do. A few months ago you were telling people to use a visa agent to save putting 800k into a Thai bank account! ๐. Now you're telling us you've got the LTR. Bit of a liar huh? ๐คก๐คก๐คก
โwestern foodโ big excitement there mate. And imported beer! Wow high roller ๐- you and the YouTubers are gonna live it up on your new visa. What will you do with the 3k baht you saved every year over LTR??
I always tell people to use an agent over the 800k method. Not exactly rocket science is it? Anyone with finance 101 can figure that out. What does my visa have to do with that? Most arenโt in the LTR tax bracket. And like you, they donโt mind standing in line every year at the bank and immigration. Itโs not like you have anything better to do.
It seems you're the one unable to qualify for the LTR as it seems you need an agent to get you your POS visa ๐๐๐. I don't stand in any line buddy, I'm way above that ๐๐๐
man you are perceptive!! So many of us โtriggeredโ by our 10 year tax free, multiple entry, no reporting, tax free, fasttrack visa.
Can you help me by walking me through the steps you take to lick ๐ฅ ๐ฅ at the bank and immigration every year and how you handle the 90 day reporting? It sounds like a dream. Do you have to save some baht every year for the multiple entries for trip to aus? You could also maybe teach us how you failed at LTR and O/X so we can understand better?
Never failed at LTR or OX. Reason LTR is overpriced for what it is, OX I needed to be in Australia and haven't been for a while. I don't do 90-day reports because I'm never in the country that long. Bank statements are downloaded. Immigration is a 45 minute doddle every year. With the DTV no more re-entry permits required, that's why I'm switching. I always fly business class so I go to priority lane at immigration. I'm already tax-free.
Sorry about your overpriced visa. There's a mug born every minute ๐๐๐
I think someone who paid 50,000 for a visa instead of 10,000 is the failure. You're the one whining like a wounded cat. It's great having 80k play money every month. Take a look around at the perpetual border bouncers who live in Thailand on 10,000 baht a month. They're the jokers. No crap street food for me ๐๐๐
Gotta admit: great video. Confirms all the facts we presented here before. Only side still really unclear seems to be the Thai Soft Power side and what classes would actually qualify.
