that’s incorrect. If you are paid your salary in the UK then you pay tax in the UK. The UK has a DTA with Thailand so any money you bring into Thailand is taxable but you will only pay tax if the rate of tax is higher than you paid in the UK. So in hindsight you don’t pay tax twice.

thank you for your reply. We already have a bank account in Thailand. The problem with applying before we come is in NZ they charge NZ$2000 per application and we have to take insurance which isn’t cheap. If we do the application in Thailand it only costs THB1900. What we want to know is, doing our first application, does the THB800k need to be in our bank account for 3 months before we apply or as it’s our first application the THB800k just needs to be in our account before our application.

you are right but my wife is not solely dependant on me. Being dependent on me means she would be wheelchair bound as an example.
