Income tax requested for DTV application - not having one since being a nomad:
Got requested - Financial evidence: an amount of no less than 500,000 THB, (e.g., bank statements for the last three months, sponsor letter) (already provided)
+ Provide the salary slips/income for the past 6 months, please highlight them in your transaction records, and provide your income tax last 2 years.
I have 2 questions:
1. Since, I've been moving around multiple countries (less than 6months each country) - It wasn't required by any of these countries to pay income taxes - what should I attach as income tax for the last 2 years?
2. I attached the bank statements for 3 months with over 500.000vnd.
Now that I will have to attach the payslips for the past 6 months, should I just highlight them in that 3 months bank statement - or should I attach another 6 months transaction record which I haven't got?
I have been in Thailand from Feb - June this year on a tourist visa, with a few days in Singapore in the middle.
I have returned to the UK, got my DTV visa and am planning to come back in November. Will I become a tax resident? Will I have to pay tax?
Quick Google "You are only taxed on income that you remit (bring into) Thailand. If your income remains in your home country bank account, you will not owe Thai tax on it."
Not sure.... any advice?
I don't have a Thai bank account, and i am staying in a guest house(s) and island hoping :)
For those who are working on the DTV, has anyone managed to receive a tax residency certificate? I’m Australian with non-Australian remote income.
Currently I live in Georgia 🇬🇪 and am paying a very favourable tax rate here and am wondering if it’s possible to do something similar in Thailand legally as I do in Georgia. Having a certificate is a key part in creating a paper trail that would assist me passing an audit.
I have been told by my employer that I am OK to work remotely in Thailand on a pert time basis 25 hours per week.
This suits me fine as I was going to retire/semi-retire.
Is anyone else doing this from the UK as I would like to know about the double tax arrangements and whether this forms any part of the DTV application.
If I work in Thailand as a remote worker with a visa for foreign clients, does that count as foreign sourced income? Or is it Thai based income since I myself work in Thailand?
