in Nong Khai DLT would not accept it for driving licence renewal. The main Honda dealer accepted it for bike purchase and registration.

In theory it should replace the need for a certificate of residence from immigration. But as this is Thailand, sometimes it will then sometimes it won't.

Certainly for British Pound you will get the best rate for a 50 note. The 20, 10 and5 are a lower rate.

thank you for your reply. I did not realise that. So I suppose a follow on question, does it cause any problems if the account is in a different province. I know that the bank charges for out of province withdrawals, but that is overcome by doing cardless withdrawals. The main concern for me is that there are no problems when it comes to the yearly extension.

I have just done the same thing in Nong Khai. The account was set up in Udon Thani. Whent into the Nong Khai branch and asked to change address on my account. No problems, and they were very helpful.

surly coming from the UK the OP will have a printed out e visa. So if he doesn't show it, how will they know. Only a thought.

As a single guy I live on around 45,000 bht per month in Nong Khai. I enjoy the quiet life and going to local Thai bars for a few beers. Also do a bit of travelling around. It all depends on the life style you want.
