With the help of this group I have completed and sent my e visa application for my single entry non immigrant o visa. Thanks for all the helpful advice. One last question if you don't mind. I know that when I used to travel on a tourist visa I was required to be carrying a certain amount in cash. Is this still the case when using the non immigrant visa, or is it good enough that I have proved funds in bank to get the visa.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user has successfully submitted their e-visa application for a single-entry Non-Immigrant O visa and is inquiring whether they need to carry cash when entering Thailand. Responses indicate that requirements may vary by authority, suggesting travelers should be prepared to show ฿20,000 in cash or equivalent currency upon entry, although personal experiences suggest that this requirement is often not enforced.

Two different sets of requirements from two separate Thai authorities. It’s possible that you will be required to show cash at the border. If so, it will be ฿20,000 in cash or the equivalent in another currency. Also remember that there are no cash machines at the airport before immigration.

I think technically you should have a min of 10k thb. I have never done this when flying from the uk but do do it when i do a visa run. To be fair, in 12 years ive never once been asked for it

okay, the fact you've never been asked for proof of funds, onward travel or a hotel booking when stamping in (while anecdotally interesting) doesn't mean that nobody is asked. So let's just get that straightened out right now.

Also there are two times you usually show proof of funds,

One is when you are at a thai consulate BUYING a visa to thailand, if you are required to show proof of funds there you show a bank statement.

Another one is when you are stamping IN to thailand, if you are asked for proof of funds then you show 20K baht or the equivalent in CASH, you cannot show a bank statement or credit card.

David Warburton only time a bank statement is accepted is when applying for a visa at.a Thai Consulate or Embassy.

Cash cannot be shown at Thai Consulate or Embassy.

David Warburton CASH and there are NO ATM machines before reaching Immigration.

David Warburton the current correct amount IF ASKED for is

Thai baht or CASH equal. Disregard what is said about the 10,000.
