Hi. Just a quick question. At the moment I am here on a 12 month extension based on retirement. I believe that when it up for renewal I can apply up to 30 days before expiry. The question is, when it is renewed does the new extension follow on from the expiry date, or does it run from the date of application. Thanks for any help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When renewing a retirement extension in Thailand, the new extension will start from the expiry date of the previous extension, not from the date of application. You can apply for the renewal up to 30 days beforehand, and in some locations like Hua Hin and Bangkok, it can be renewed as early as 45 days in advance.

yearly extensions are ADDED to the expiration date you have now, so applying early isn't gonna change the date of your expiration
I have had the same expiration date for 14 years now (my first non-O visa expired April 5th and that has always been my yearly expiration date.
In bangkok you can apply up to 45 days early, here's where I applied 42 days before my current extension ran out and I got stamped until the normal April 5th date like always
