I've used the e-visa a number of times in the past and every time it's taken 2-3 days. Very good service.

Surely the way to go is solar panels, a battery bank and inverter to give 240 volt. Used to live on a boat in the UK and that's how it was done. But here with the amount of sun I would think it would be a really good option.

If you have a non o visa then not a problem. If you are travelling on a tourist visa or a visa exempt then you may be asked by the airline to show proof of onward travel.

says. They will send the visa as a pdf file which you need to show every time you enter the country for the validity of the visa. You will get a stamp in the passport for 60 days. Then you leave country and return, again showing the pdf and get stamped in for a further 60 days.

Just print a copy of the PDF and present to immigration when you arrive.

Not sure but I don't think you can use the regular bus from Udon to Vientiane unless you have previously purchased a Lao visa.
