Thanks for sharing this, Joe 🙏 Many members will find it helpful to know TrueMoney can cover utilities and shopping. If others have alternative solutions, please share — it could really help someone stuck in the same situation.

Thanks will just post it here

Food Panda bought out Food By Phone in 2012. They were the King from 2012 to 2018

Uber Eats exited Thailand in 2018 when Grab bought them out. For the expat market, it probably took about a year after that for them to become the dominant player.

Grab is still more popular in the expat market but lineman is growing marketshare everyday.

Turns out Food Panda lost 13 billion baht over the past five years.

Ouch.

And that’s with a 30% commission and record-breaking demand during COVID, when dine-in was shut down for months.

Hard to imagine, right?

We received personal letters of support from Members of Parliament, the Ministry of Education, and school directors we assisted. Despite this, immigration refused to extend a volunteer visa for a volunteer due to widespread past abuse by others.

Even obtaining an Elite Visa becomes impossible if you’ve ever held a volunteer visa, as immigration often assumes it was obtained fraudulently.

The DTV is a fantastic visa, and hopefully, immigration won’t treat it the same way they currently handle extensions for medical or volunteer visas. You can still cross the border and re-enter, though you might face some questions—similar to those asked of education, medical, or volunteer visa holders who obtained theirs from an embassy.

The Thai Education Visa (ED visa) has always been under increased scrutiny due to the rise of so-called "visa mill" schools. These institutions were facilitating visa approvals for foreigners without requiring them to attend classes, undermining the intended purpose of the visa. While the ED visa is officially approved by Thai Immigration, the misuse of this category has attracted closer attention from authorities.

On the other hand, the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) functions more as a glorified tourist visa. It is issued not by Thai Immigration but by Thai embassies or consulates abroad. Unlike the ED visa, the DTV visa permit does not include specific activity-based conditions such as attending a boxing school, freelancing, attending concerts, or undergoing medical treatments. Once granted, there are no immediate obligations or requirements to meet unless you wish to extend the visa through Thai Immigration.

However, the rules for extending a DTV will probably vary significantly depending on the immigration office you visit within Thailand. Each office may have its own interpretation of the requirements for granting an extension, leading to inconsistent and sometimes unpredictable processes.

For those unable to meet the extension requirements, border runs are often presented as a solution. This involves leaving Thailand and re-entering to secure another 180 days on a new DTV, a workaround that even some immigration officials may suggest in cases where the extension process for the DTV becomes challenging.

Nothing to do with DTV. Could you owe tax from something previous? Yes.

@Tore ********
Extensions? Yes, anything is possible.

As for crossing the border, there is absolutely zero chance of a border check. That’s not how this visa works, nor how any visa issued by an embassy or consulate operates.

if he was to fly as example to Singapore and scan the pages, as he was outside Thailand. Would this work ?
