Well. Exhausted after another draining day at immigration. All in all im just tired of how ridiculous the marriage visa is. It also doesn't help we live about 2 hours from immigration. One small mistake and entire application in the garbage.
Also it's wild. They had one lady processing any and all of the long term visas. After waiting 5 hours I was only the 4th to be seen that day. In a que of 19...
Few points of advice. Avoid the marriage visa like the plague, book online appointments and dont move 2 hours from immigration haha.
I’ve been digging into the latest updates on visas for Thailand, especially around DTV and retirement options. Some of the changes seem small on paper but could make a big difference for those of us planning longer stays. Curious if anyone here has gone through the process recently and noticed anything new or unexpected?
On a side note, while sorting out my long-term plans here, I’ve also been keeping an eye on the US stock market. With all the swings lately, it’s been tricky deciding whether to hold or move things around. Feels like the same kind of patience and timing we need for visa applications.
This is just a general observation in the short time I have been a member of this chat group
Everybody's situation is different in their approach to what requirements there are. People's opinions differ in accordance with their needs , whether they are married or single or which bank may be best or worst Etc. we all have to play the Thai game of satisfying immigration paperwork and the requirements of being able to stay long term in this wonderful country. As long as it works for our differing situations , I don't see a problem. It's great that there are many people offering opinions and advice. Best wishes to everyone
Hey all, I’m planning of snowbirding every winter (November to May) in Thailand on a yearly basis (given that I like the first year, which I’m sure I will but you never know!)
I’m Canadian living in Canada right now but am looking for advice on DTV, I have the $15k for 3+ months proof requirement. Is this the biggest hurdle I am to expect with trying to apply or is there more? I can always come as a tourist and border hop this year if I face issues, wondering what other digital nomads are doing.
Lastly, my girlfriend is not a remote freelancer like me, but she does have the 15k evidence in her account. How do you guys typically deal with partners for these types of plans?
I don’t want any trouble with Thailand and border hopping is just as a temporary resort while I get things in order for the long run, but I do prefer options that have 0 risk.
My boyfriend has just received his U.S. passport and will be flying to Bangkok, Thailand in September 2025,but he was convicted of felony which he served time for and is now off parole. My question is will he be allowed entry in to Thailand and are there any further documents he would need to make his entry here in Thailand go smoothly?
Once he has arrived Thailand we are hoping to get married and make his stay here long term.
I am a Thai citizen my boyfriend is ( US citizen)
