What should I do if I'm in Thailand on a visa-exempt entry while my DTV application is pending?

I’ve applied for DTV back home and was on pending approval but my flight to Thailand was due and I emailed them 2 days before my flight to let them know. Now that I’m in Thailand with visa exempt they’ve sent me an email to scan all passport pages and the status is now pending document check. Any suggestions?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has applied for a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) from their home country but is now in Thailand on a visa-exempt entry while their application is pending. They received a request for documentation, specifically to scan all passport pages. There is a discussion in the comments regarding the implications of being in Thailand on a visa-exempt status while a DTV application is pending, concerns about potential visa denial based on travel history, and the importance of adhering to application protocols. The consensus suggests that the user should comply with the request and send the necessary documents to avoid denial of their visa application.

and this is the problem people run into when they apply for a DTV then come to thailand BEFORE the visa was approved.

Sheesh people it's a FIVE YEAR visa 😮 apply well before you are intending to come to thailand so that it gets approved BEFORE your flight here

Now what are you going to do my Anonymous participant? You have a free stamp 60 day entry in your passport now and that is reason enough to deny the visa and you would lose the money 🙁

if he was to fly as example to Singapore and scan the pages, as he was outside Thailand. Would this work ?
Tod *********
could work, but who knows, the thai consulate in Phnom Penh was telling people apply and go to ANY country OTHER THAN thailand while you wait for approval
Jared *******
Should have taken pics of all passport pages before going just to be prepared,but I think you will be fine.

You told them you’re leaving the country you applied in and are heading to Thailand before the visa was approved.

Unless you entered Thailand via the new (ish) eGates then they’ll see the Thai entry stamp and will have grounds for refusing your visa.

The only option you have really is to do what they asked and see what happens.

If you don’t do it they’ll definitely refuse it so you don’t really have a choice.

Best way round this problem in the future would be to scan and upload all passport pages before they asked for them.

@Biff ******
there are no e arrival gates,

It's probably a best guess scenario, I suppose you only have two options, just send them copies of all the pages, and hope they understand that you only entered Thailand after the application process was complete, or send them all the pages, except the final page with your visa exempt stamp on it, and let them assume it's blank, the second option is not the most honest, but your not really doing anything wrong, nobody on here really knows, so it's your call.

You're screwed mate.

Well technically you’re supposed to be in the country where you apply during application process, so if they’re strict they may deny your visa for this reason, maybe not.

They want to see how often and how long you been in Thailand, cause the DTV for 5 years and if you are don’t been in Thailand last 5 years they can be rejected, already it is happened.

@Andriy ******
What nonsense is this? You're saying that if you have no history of travel to Thailand they can reject the DTV application?

I mean I had never ever visited Thailand until August, when I came on a tourist visa, for ten days. Then, on the same day I left, I went home and applied for the DTV, and it was granted without troubles. I came first no to make record, but to firsthand see the country I was planning to live at. So, I think that not having previously visited Thailand doesn't matter at all for the DTV. They're inviting anyone who wants to move here.

Errr maybe scan all passport pages and send to them like they asked?

The rule is that you have to be there to apply, not until the visa is issued. I don't think there will be a problem, but who knows

@Kelly *******
the rule is there is no rule, never mind one that applies to all embassies. It varies per every embassy, it could be different if you are a citizen in the country you apply at or not and so many other factors so people need to check the site or contact the embassy they apply at.

my embassy ( belgium ) clearly say that I need to stay in Belgium during the whole process of waiting visa ... ( 5 weeks )
Henrik *****
Always check the website of the desired Embassy, for visa processing time, and allow for delays, because of the extra high number of applications, now at the start of the high season.

Severel Embassy websites emphasize that you have to stay in their jurisdiction until the visa has been approved.

If they are in doubt that you are currently in their country ( or have other issues ) they may call you in for an interview.

Some embassies proces visa’s by expected departure date, and then the visa will not come until 1-2 weeks before departure, to the benefit of the traveller.

I think application includes waiting for approval. So, no, you’re not supposed to leave the country before,
Elías ********
@Kelly *******
I don't think so. My Embassy (Seoul, Korea) website had a notice written in red letters stating that they wouldn't approve the visa if they found out or even suspected that the applicant has left the country.

Do embassies have access to the Thai Immigration System online? There was someone on here arguing that they do not.
Paul *****
@Greg *******
I think they don't. Why would they ask to see all passport pages if they could easily check all visas, entries and exits by passport number?
Greg ********
@Paul ****
Yeah - I think so too. A Visa is also not a guaranteed entry and they state that on the MFA website.

May I ask which embassy asked this?
