As an American filing for Thailand's DTV based on me being an online seller (Amazon, ebay...), which country around Thailand is it best for me to apply?
I guess I'm asking where is it more likely to be approved easily? Vietnam? North, South? Or some other countries work better?
Can anyone please let me know if they have had the Digital nomad visa accepted from the London embassy with savings in your bank account for a short period of time?
I’m planning to apply for the DTV visa as an American selling on Amazon and eBay. I run the business under my own name (sole proprietor), filing taxes in my name with a Schedule C (profit & loss form for a business).
I’ll be applying electronically through the Thai Embassy in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Would love to hear what other people with similar case details had gone through filling in Vietnam, what documents they requested, and also if anyone know if Amazon and eBay stores screenshots (that show my name) are accepted as sufficient proof of a business? Or do they usually require additional documents like W9 from Amazon, bank deposit records from Amazon or IRS tax filings?
Would really appreciate hearing from anyone with similar experience or who’s gone through this process. Thanks in advance!
Maan, last week I applied for the digital nomad DTV with the London embassy, thinking the whole thing was surprising straightforward (clearly very naive).
They’ve just emailed me saying I now need:
1. Better quality passport scan – I already gave them the same scan I successfully used for another country visa.
2. Proof of current location – I already gave a bank statement with my address, but now they want a utility bill in my name, and I live with my parents in the UK so none are in my name.
3. Stamped bank statements – for closing balance and last three months. I’ve already given statements but not stamped; not sure my bank even does that.
4. Professional portfolio or company description – I already submitted a statement with screenshots of earnings showing consistent freelance activity.
5. Self-assessment tax return / statement of accounts / other HMRC docs – I haven’t been freelancing long enough to submit a tax return; maybe I could just give bank statements again?
6. Letter confirming employment/contract details – I work freelance across multiple platforms. Even though I meet the monthly requirements, none of my “clients” are going to provide a signed letter addressed to the embassy.
I am 50+, American, have more than enough assets, collect a monthly pension, have visited Thailand MANY times, and trade stock options for substantial income.
