Hey, is anyone able to help me just to make sure I have what’s needed for the DTV. I think I have everything, but just from people’s personal experiences, any tips would be amazing!
I will have (at the time of applying)
- 500,000 baht in my account for 3/4 months
- 6 months of invoices and matching bank statements
- a freelance contract (I freelance for a uk company)
- a letter stating I can work remotely and no Thai connections
- cover letters.
I will also have the usual passport/accomodation/flights etc.
In terms of preparing now, does anyone know if I need anything else? I’ll be applying in London next year.
My wife and I are planning to base ourselves in Thailand for the next 2–3 years and (fingers crossed) start our family there. I’m a remote employee for a U.S. company and my wife freelances. A few questions on the DTV process:
1) For the 500,000 THB financial requirement, will bank statements from investment/brokerage accounts be accepted, or do they need to be from a cash/checking/savings account? We have sufficient funds, but one account dipped below 500k recently due to an investment.
2) I’ve seen people mention an employer letter confirming permission to work remotely from Thailand. Is this actually required, and what wording do they expect?
3) I’ve also read that some consulates ask for recent payslips. My wife’s income varies as a freelancer. Because of Trump's shenanigans, lots of business (her clients) put a pause the last six months so he income has been very low to 0. Things are finally kicking in back into gear and she is signing up a few clients, but they won't likely start right before we apply for the DTV visa. Would this be a problem for her application even though we cover the minimum $ requirement? Would you recommend to have her as a dependent, rather than apply for her separate visa?
4) If we apply for her as a dependent, does that mean I have to first get my DTV visa approved and then apply for her as a dependent? Is there a way to do it simulatenously?
* Rang for an update a week later, the embassy staff were very helpful, and gave me a timeframe of 10 days to 1 month for approval (told me to email them a few business days before my flight if the status hadn't changed)
* Changed to pending approval on 30th October
* Approved on 5th November, no request for further documents
For context, I have a flight booked to arrive in Thailand on 18th November.
What documents I provided:
For proof of location:
* Cover page with the title of document and my contact details
* Plain letterhead from myself explaining some variation in information
* My Australian driver's license
* Letter in my name sent to the residential address I provided
For financial proof:
* Proof of Balance confirmation from my bank
For proof of work:
For this I made a multiple page pdf document including
* Cover page
* Clear table of contents with page numbers
* Cover letter briefly describing my work, reasons why I want to live in Thailand, strongly emphasising that I will not work for Thai businesses or source income from within Thailand (i.e. work with international clients only)
* Work description with dot points for main work responsibilities
* Proof of my Business Registration (screenshots and link)
* My Work's Online Presence (screenshots of my website and LinkedIn)
* Letterhead from myself confirming that I'm self-employed and am authorised to work remotely
* Ongoing Client Overview (description of my ongoing client and screenshots of the relevant case study on my website)
* Letter from my Client confirming that I work remotely
* Signed Service Agreement between the same client and myself
* Work Examples (screenshots and links)
* 5 most recent paid invoices
ilovepdf is a life-saver when it comes to compressing large pdf documents while still keeping a good quality.
Would also recommend making sure that any scans of physical documents are very good quality.
Make sure all names and addresses match across all documents - if there are any variations (even small ones), include letters/clarification statements to explain.
I’m an Australian citizen currently working remotely in an IT role. I’m planning to apply for the new Digital Nomad (DTV) visa for Thailand — either directly myself or through an agent.
My goal is to continue my existing remote job while living in Thailand for an extended period. I’ve read through some of the official requirements but would appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through the process recently.
Is it generally a straightforward application if you’re already employed remotely by an overseas company?
Any tips on what documentation or approach worked best — especially regarding proof of income, tax obligations, and how to structure the application (DIY vs. through a visa agent)?
Thanks in advance for any guidance or first-hand insights!
I applied for a DTV visa at the Tokyo embassy at the end of last month and had an interview in Tokyo on the 4th of this month. Today, the visa was approved and sent to me. However, it was labeled "Tourist TR VISA". The validity period is only about 6 months. What could be the problem? Has anyone else experienced a similar situation?
Hey would love some help. I work for a UAE based company.
But I’m applying from London as a U.K. citizen does this matter when applying from the London embassy please guys.
I saw the requirement mention this and thought it meant the company must be U.K. based:
“Employment contract or employment certificate in their country or professional portfolio showcasing digital nomad, remote worker, foreign talent or freelancer status”
Anyone had a DTV approved in the last week for a digital nomad route - where did they go? Heard Vietnam started denying them - is that true? I'm from UK currently in Thailand so looking for a safe place nearby to apply from.
Hi everyone! 😊 I was wondering if anyone here has already applied for the digital nomad visa in Vietnam, specifically in Hanoi. I’m planning to apply there soon and would really appreciate any information or tips you could share.
