Hi there, I got a 5 yr DTV (Digital nomad) visa at the start of the year. I was in Thailand from March - June. I have been back in the UK since (about 6 month) but I'm planning on moving back to Thailand in Feb/ March. Is there anything I need to do upon arrival? will there be any issues because i've been out the country for so long?
Just a quick update since I was recently approved for the DTV. We arrived through Bangkok without a hitch. The officer who stamped us seemed nice. Didn’t have to show proof of funds or anything like that. Thanks to everyone who’s shared their stories along the way.
Can I apply for the DTV from my home country if I’m not actually located there?
I am from the US and have been in Thailand for a few months now, planning to apply for the digital nomad DTV. I was going to do it from Laos and use a parent sponsorship but learned that Asian countries don’t take parent sponsorship letters. My parents transferred money into my account but only a few weeks ago.
I’m hearing that the DTV may get cancelled or the requirements may change, so I’d like to apply sooner than later. Can I leave Thailand (go to Hanoi for example) and put my location as my residence in the US and apply from the US embassy in DC?
Additionally, does anyone have a definitive answer on if the Hanoi embassy has a seasoning requirement for the 500,000 baht?
I am considering a DTV but my situation is a little more complicated and I have questions which have not been answered yet, I don't think.
The money in the bank is not an issue. However, as I own businesses in the UK, I don't get a formal salary and I simply draw from a director loan account with over £1m in my favour. I am not trying to explain that to someone at immigration as they will never understand it. I could magic up a contract or whatever but it clearly isn't £xxxxx per month etc. matching deposits into my accounts.
During the application process, it asks when you are arriving and when you are leaving and if you have accommodation for the duration. If I put 180 days and can't show accommodation for 180 days, then what ? Ideally, I don't want to have to arrange any accommodation and I can't arrange it without the surety of obtaining the visa. Same with flight tickets, I can't lose £5k on flights.
Extensions and 90 day reporting. Are they asking for financials everytime or ever ? Has anyone done an extension at 180 days ? My understanding this is available every entry, not just once but that it is available once per entry.
Banking. I have bank accounts at SCB but would prefer to diversify and open others. I read the DTV is not a non immigrant visa so blah blah but is this categorically proven or just half reality, half internet twaddle. It doesn't officially affect me but I could use a non O visa otherwise.
Do they care if I recently got hired with a fully remote company? Asking because I need to provide the work contract and I’m wondering if the recent hire date would cause any doubt or further questioning.
I just discovered this group and I feel a little lost regarding all the information I found.
My wife, my daughter and I will move in Thailand in February, she will have her own Visa (non Immigrant B) and we will be related as "Non Immigrant O".
I quit my job and I was thinking to open a 'micro entreprise' (don't know how to translate it from french) so I can build websites and SaaS to french customers, from Thailand. I will create the company in few days, after Christmas break. I was working with disabled people in France. I know it's complicated to work in the same field in Thailand, so my company will not be related. I never had nether a diploma or training in coding, but I'm strong enough to build good products as a freelance (did it few years ago).
From what I understand, working in Thailand with my visa (non immigrant O) is not allowed, even if I'm not working with Thai people : I just can't work in Thailand.
... I will be crazy in few months, doing nothing but swimming pool in our new brand condo 🤷🏻♂️🥲
I just heard about DTV : is it possible to apply from Thailand (can't quit my family) explaining that I am creating my society ? I have proof of money (more than 20000€ are not moving in my bank account) and my family will already be in Thailand.
Hello everyone, I am from Taiwan, 32 years old, and I have been trading stocks for about four years. Currently, my stocks plus cash amount to about 9 million Thai baht. I do not work for any company. I have been traveling around for the past four years, but I can provide proof of my stock trading in Taiwan. I have already made a profit of about 2 million Thai baht in 2024-2025. If I use these conditions, have any friends with similar conditions successfully applied for DTV? Or can someone give me some advice?
I was recently rejected for my DTV visa. I meet all the requirements, I'm American but I applied in Korea where I have lived for 18 months with a digital nomad visa. My visa moved to pending approval status. I then traveled to Thailand and now a few days later it got rejected.
In the rejection email it's very broad, with no specific reason given. I later learned that you have to stay in the country where you apply from, I thought originally you just had to apply outside of Thailand and you were good to go.
My question is I will be going back to Korea soon to apply again, and will stay there the entire process. Does having a previous rejection cause any issues or red flags when applying for the same Visa 2 months later?
