As an online teacher working with a platform, could you please clarify what specific documents or evidence I need to provide to demonstrate my employment status for the Digital Nomad Visa application? Would a certificate or statement from the platform confirming my work and income be sufficient?
Hi there, I’ve been a member of this group for a while and I have some questions regarding applying for a DTV.
- I’m an Irish and New Zealand dual citizen and I will be home in Ireland for a few weeks. I’m planning to apply then for the DTV. Ireland doesn’t have a Thai embassy so I will need to apply in London, but is it necessary that I be present in England when I apply?
- in terms of proving that I’m in Ireland, is an exit stamp and flight booking to Ireland sufficient? I will be staying in my parents house
- lastly, I work for an American company that is a poker coaching company. I do software development for them and get paid an hourly wage ($100/h). I will make clear to them that I am not gambling while I am in Thailand, only doing this software development. Is this likely to result in a failed application? In terms of payment I have my invoices that I sent to them for the last 9 months and I can prove the income into my account (they have paid me both through PayPal and through my bank account)
Just received approval for DTV from the UK Embassy.
Submitted on 22nd March.
I applied for the workation version as I am the director of a limited company since 2005. It doesn't do much except hold some digital assets that provide an income.
Originally I submitted the documents asked for on the Online form.
> Bank statement (initially I did the company one)
> photo taken on phone
> photo of passport bio page only
> letter from director (me) saying can work remotely and understand thai work/immigration rules and why I should work remotely in Thailand
> copy of utility bill from my rented flat in uk
They requested additional documents after a day or two.
> further letter from authorised person at my company stating I can work remotely. This time I got my accountant to do it in his capacity as company secretary
> personal bank statement. I sent money to natwest and ordered an interim statement on their app via the AI assistant. This took one day to appear
> proof of me as director on companies house. I did a long screenshot so it could show all the info.
A few days later it changed to pending approval so I just waited for further contact.
The visa starts immediately even though I stated June 20th as my arrival date.
They did not request passport pages, or any other proof of income, tax returns, bank statements, or proof of location in addition to the utility bill.
I was also looking at retirement visa as I'm old enough but this one seems the beat option for the price and no arduous process to apply.
A thai bank account would be nice so will look into that next time I am in the kingdom.
Hi y’all I’m new to the group and I was wondering what the rules were regarding the 15k needed to be approved for the Digital Nomad Visa. I’m considering borrowing half of this amount to get the visa and then paying the half back after - would this work or will I need to show proof of 15k in my account for the entirety of my stay there? Thanks appreciate any advice!
Hello, when applying in germany as a business owner with LLC, do they grant the DTV Visa by showing LLC founding documents, passport Photograph and rental contract in germany, 15k usd sitting in account, but not Website and no monthly income Statements?
Has anyone successfully get a 180 days stamp after re-entering Thailand after their 6 month course expired and not renewed a new course? I am under the Muay thai dtv, but want to change to remote worker, must I re-apply my visa?
Thailand DTV Visa Approved – Here’s How I Did It 🇹🇭
Just got approved for the Digital Nomad (DTV) visa and wanted to share my experience in case it helps anyone else. I applied from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, giving myself about two weeks before I’d need to leave — and thankfully it worked out.

What I submitted:
Since they only allow one PDF per category, I combined multiple things smartly. Here’s what I submitted:
• UK Ltd company incorporation doc (I contract through my own business)
• Bank statement (1 month)
• Passport photo
• Client invoices
• A PDF showing my experience and portfolio
• A signed letter stating I don’t intend to work for Thai clients or companies
⸻
Financials — mine weren’t perfect:
Most of my money was in Trading 212, which isn’t considered a proper bank. The day before applying, I moved funds to my Barclays account and included:
• A screenshot of the transfer
• A brief explanation
• A summary of my other accounts
I also added a sponsorship letter from my dad, with his bank statement and ID, just as a fallback.
⸻
After submission, they asked for:
• Photos of all passport pages
• A company overview (I just created a basic one with my intro, mission, and services)
Putting all the passport photos into one PDF was a bit of a pain, but I managed it using a command-line tool on my Mac to compress and merge them.
⸻
Accommodation:
I listed an Airbnb address for the application, not my actual long-term stay (which isn’t TM30-registered). I now have a short stay booked at a TM30-registered place for when my friend visits, and I’ll use that for my 90-day report.
⸻
Final Result: Approved
No interview, no major issues — just a few extra docs and a little prep. If your finances are a bit outside the box like mine, don’t panic — just explain things clearly and cover your bases.
Happy to answer questions or share general guidance if it helps someone else!
Hi im currently in thailand just got here last week on my dtv visa for the 180 days stamp whoo. However I keep saying people talk about a 90 day check in. My dtv visa comes from being a digital nomad am i required to do a 90 days check in? As I'm unaware of this
Yesterday afternoon, I managed to open an account at SCB in the Airport Plaza in Chiang Mai.
It took three attempts, but in the end, it worked out.
First attempt: I asked what was required to open an account. They told me: passport, visa, certificate of residence, and a work permit.
When I pointed out that I didn’t have a work permit, they informed me that an account could be opened with the DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) for remote work and a translated employment contract for remote workers.
So, I got that done.
Second attempt: Of course, the information I received the first time wasn’t complete. On the second attempt, they told me I also needed a Thai tax ID.
So before my third attempt, I applied for one at the Revenue Department, explaining that I was on a DTV and intended to stay in Thailand for more than 183 days. They issued the tax ID for me.
Third attempt: With my certificate of residence, translated employment contract (which explicitly stated that I work remotely for my employer from Thailand and will stay for more than 183 days), visa, and tax ID, everything went smoothly and quickly.
Oh, and they didn’t try to sell me any unnecessary insurance!
